Here's the secret of playing exemptions. Forget you're playing on exemption. Go out there and give it your best shot. Sometimes you will perform great and get promoted. Other times you will play poorly and miss the promotion. But that's fine. Keep plugging at it. You'll either get it or you won't. If you do, great. If you don't, hey, it's just a game. It's not like there's real money on the line.

It's not like there's real money on the line. Couldn't agree more. Also, don't add pressure to yourself by thinking about what may happen or could happen. It's not as easy as it sounds, trust me. I just shot 62 in my second round at Hellenic and that puts me in a tie for 1st (for now - won't hold up). Just now, I read that this is a major. So now I'm trying to get a SE to Web, and place high in a major. No pressure. Edit - I just checked the leaderboard and right now I'm T-10. lol

And then I screw up one shot and freak out. One -1 round later, I don’t care about the final 3 rounds. But if I can get an exemption to C (currently on D and playing pretty well there) and convince myself it’s just another week, then I’ll be back to the plateau I hit at the end of TGC1.

If you freak out after one bad shot or one bad hole, you must be perpetually freaked out. Don't panic!! You make a bad shot or have a bad hole, do what the pros do. Take a deep breath and then forget about the bad one. Just play golf. There are going to be weeks when you play lights out golf. And then there are going to be weeks when you just can't buy a birdie. There's a technical term for that; golf. Don't stress on it. It's just a game and not even that important of a game since there's no real life resources on the line.

Perhaps I need to make exemptions a little MORE stressful - my none stress strategy does not work LOL
BTW - saw a guy chip on the green on Hole #16 - pissed me off a little. Long putt but zero need to chip.
-4 in round 3. -12 now - sigh! at least I know an exemption to cc_A would have made me go back the "B" anyway!

If it’s someone at TGCT, report it, as green chipping is against the rules if you have an open line from ball to hole

I try and put a bad hole behind me because I don't know how many times I've bogied one hole then birdie the next. Sometimes I've hit what I thought was a bad shot and it's turned out good and wondered where I'd be if I hit my intended shot. I try and remind myself it's 72 holes over 4 rounds so one bad hole is a blip. Someone remind me of that last sentence when I'm struggling to clear strikes.

Well that was an unspectacular round! My apologies to any of the virtual crowds that had to follow me this week Finished at a very disappointing -3. Just couldn’t get consistent enough in getting my shots close. And that 8 on the 7th hole in the third round certainly didn’t help. Mind you, had I parred that hole my score would still be poor overall. Oh well, couple of strikes looming and on to next week!

Yep....it’s taken me LONG time to finally figure out the simplest of truths.... Can’t do anything ‘bout the holes now behind you, but if you focus just enough on the ones that lie ahead, you can more than make up for any mistakes.

Got your autograph as you came off no. 12. But now I’m thinking of selling it on EBay....😋 Better luck next week!

I’ve had three bogies in two rounds this week it’s not very often I get a round without one so I have to put them behind me. First round two bogies in a 64 one bogie in a second round 66 but I missed 5 putts from under ten feet for birdie.

If it’s someone at TGCT, report it, as green chipping is against the rules if you have an open line from ball to hole Not always against the rules. If you are outside 100 feet, then chipping is allowed on the green. The first line of the Acceptable Shots On The Green section of the Rules, Info and Policies document states Putter must be used on the green unless your putting line is obstructed by fringe/rough/bunker or your putt is longer than 100 feet, in which case use of a putter is not mandatory.

Clearly I haven’t looked in the rules in a bit... lol. They must’ve changed that in the last 2 years.... heh

There are no exemptions. There are no flights. There are no divisions. There is only the ball, the course and you. Now golf!!!
