Broken Hills Dunes (Pandora 9-hole contest II entry) Par: 36 Yardage (3668/3508/3292/3016/2571) Fairways: Firm Greens: Firm, 156 From dunes land on the Oregon coast, Broken Hills Dunes has been unearthed. The original 9-holes layout has a links feel as you dart in and out of the dunes and the gorse as you make your way to the coast and back. In keeping with the classic terrain, architect Jeremy Mayo leaned on some classic template designs in routing the nine to build a breathtaking and strategic track that values the ground game as much as the aerial approach. Only nine holes are planned at present, but land has been cleared for possible further expansion. Pictured (Clockwise from top left): Look out over the ocean on the par 3 7th. Carry your tee shot up over the dune on the 9th. Accuracy is key to the approach on the par 4 2nd. At the top of the hill on the ninth, a breathtaking view to the coastline can be found. Enjoy!

Hole-by-Hole
1 - Cardinal (Par 5: 542/532/499/485/419) The fairway of this double dogleg is some 80 yards wide, but bifurcated by a series of pot bunkers in the middle of the driving area. Playing left leaves a longer second shot but a better angle to a shallow green.
2 - Cape (Par 4: 399/379/360/324/289) Bite off as much as you dare on this par 4 along the cliffs. The further left shortens the hole, but brings out of bounds more into play. Distance control is vital on a semi-blind second shot to a three-tier green with OB left and a severe drop off long.
3 - Short (Par 3: 119/113/103/92/66) Likely only a wedge or a short iron, unless playing into the wind, accuracy is key on this uphill par 3 with four distinct targets. Beware of going long, especially if the pin is tucked on the left.
4 - Bottle (Par 4: 378/366/359/338/255) A dune of the left and a cross bunker narrow the landing area the longer you drive. There's ample room right for less than driver, but it leaves a longer approach to a green fronted by a pair of pot bunkers.
5 - Hell's Half Acre (Par 5: 661/636/588/546/471) In a twist on the Pine Valley classic, the golfer decides if he or she wants to take on the waste bunker on this behemoth Par 5 off the tee, or skirt it to the right to play the second shot over. It's all downhill from there to a semi-dell green that runs away back and left.
6 - Punchbowl(s) (Par 4: 447/437/398/361/319) All the fun comes with the second shot on this downhill par 4. Playing out to the right leaves better look, but a longer second, at a green divided into 4 sectors, each one its own mini punch bowl. Hitting the the proper tier is critical. Miss the green right and risk the ball rolling all the way down in the Broken's Basement bunker some 20 feet below the green.
7 - Reverse Redan (Par 3: 243/215/202/157/121) A stout par 3 nestled between the dunes with the ocean as the backdrop. Use the ground to work the ball to the proper portion to the green. Birdie chance if you get it right. You'll be lucky to par if you get it wrong.
8 - Road (Par 4: 439/405/397/361/333) With no hotel or road to be found, the cliffs and ocean suffice for this homage to St. Andrews. The aggressive line to the right brings OB into play but opens the angle in. Playing left is safer off the tee, but brings the road bunker into play as well as OB long and right.
9 - Sahara (Par 4: 440/425/386/354/299) A blind drive up over the dune, cheat just left of the aiming marker to take advantage of the slopes that significantly shorten the hole. Second shot plays to a double plateau green.

That's a great links course. Every hole is a challenge, the 8th is my favorite with the rock formation against the sea into the sun. Nice that mate
