I was thinking about how we have all these societies but I don't think anyone has really looked at doing "SvS" and if there was a way to do it that wasn't a pain in the butt.
I haven't thought it all the way through yet but here is what crossed my mind. Please chime in with any thoughts you may have.
First, a couple items that play into this:
- Societies give everyone who joins an option to make that Society their "primary" one. You can only have one Society as your primary.
- After any Society event is finished, you can check the leaderboard. On that screen, if you R1 twice to that people icon, you'll see a Team Records screen. It has 3 different options of Small (3 players), Medium (5 players) and Large Team (10 players). These show the combined strokes of all the people who played in that event who have designated a Society as a primary.
With that in mind, I thought about existing Society Presidents having a draft from people who were interested, maybe 3 to 5 players per "team". I think 5 would be perfect.
Any of the Presidents who have a second gamertag could set up the Society in which the events are run - join approval needed to get in so there are no stragglers wandering in. That way none of us have to give up the formats we presently run form our main gamertags Societies.
Details about how many tourneys, rounds per tourney and days to play the tourney could be worked out later. Standard TGCTours rules would apply to gameplay.
Scoring would be combined strokes shown from the Team Records screen and a GoogleDocs page created to track the Win/Loss records.
That's as far as i got..... not sure if this is interesting or not. We'll see by how this thread goes lol.

That is an interesting idea. This would be all platforms?

That is an interesting idea. This would be all platforms? If we could figure out how? ... not sure how we could do a XB vs PS vs PC. But renditions could be run on each under the format.

Doesn't seem to be much interest here. Maybe we'll wait to see what TGC 19 brings.

I'd have no clue how to implement it though, which is why I commend the community tournament directors so often. I just play and enjoy the competition. It's kind of sad that TGC2 is so limiting but at the same time, allows for people such as yourself to brainstorm new ideas.

I know the TM RCR and WT RCR are having some sort of competition. It's not leveraging the feature you speak about (I have stumbled across that and tried to extrapolate what the heck was going on - your assessment seems accurate). Anyhow, just relaying how there is apparently one example of SvS going on.
Edit: One problem (in my opinion) is it seems that many people play across said societies. So the teams could possibly stack up and be unfair. I think leveraging the society aspect to "draft" teams is a better way about making things equitable.

The bold is why i think having Society Presidents draft their players and then those players designate that Society as a Primary. No matter what other clubs they play in, the primary won't change unless they manually change it.

I think it would be great. I do think the cross platform thing is an issue. I never created a society so I could start one on XBOX. But I fear there wouldn't be others teams on XBOX to play? There would be ways to have fair team structure. such as: Team of 5 consists of (Player) 1 world 1 PGA 1 Euro 1 Web and 1 CC player (Just example, you could use many combinations to form even teams) You could form 3 societies, one for each platform, and create teams of 5 and have players from each platform mixed. Example: Team 1 - 2 players from ps4 2 xbox and 1 PC. Team 2 - 2 xbox 2 pc 1 ps4 Team 3 - 2 pc 2 ps4 1 xbox Then set up the course on the open societies. Play on your plat form, then after match the member who runs the society reports scores to whoever is running the spread sheet. If that makes sense?

Issue with 1 person from each flight is that players go up and down from flights every week. A player in PGA this week could be in World the next week, vice versa. Also, the pool of players who declare eligibility may not be equal across all flights. Each console could have its own competition under the format. I am still pondering a best way to level things with it. Quite a few moving parts with this.

nevadaballin , I agree very difficult to put together cross platform. I like your idea of getting somthing like this going, so I will keep checking in to this thread. I'm xbox, and willing to start a team, as I have never formed a society. I'll wait and see if this all comes together.
