Note: This is not, nor am I claiming it to be a 100% RCR, so please don't misunderstand.
Also, tried my best to get decent shots of the course, but I'm limited by my hardware...so hopefully karma4u won't mind me calling on him for a couple of better looking ones
Albany is an Ernie Els designed course built in Nassau, home of Tiger Woods' "Hero World Challenge" PGA Tournament. The course as it's presented in game is a semi-RCR/"based on", but not completely true to real life in a number of ways. Most notably, without any information on green sculpting aside from a few holes I saw while watching the past couple of years Hero event, I'd estimate 85-90% of sculpting is entirely fictional (i.e., created by me). I tried as best as I could manage to keep some of the hallmark traits that I took note of during the past couple of years broadcasts - obvious sandy surroundings, many raised greens, etc. - but I certainly wouldn't try to pass it off as a clear, 100% representation of the actual course. What is accurate to the real course are hole yardages (from tips, which worked out quite well on a number of holes), layouts, routing, etc. - basically everything you can see from Google Earth.
The course is aimed at PGA/higher tour levels, almost immediately due to the demand on accurate approach shots into the - at times - incredibly challenging green complexes, but golfers will still find more than ample opportunities for scoring with solid ball striking:
Personal Note - This project began around the time of the Hero World Challenge in 2016, well before TGC2, and is undoubtedly the longest ongoing WIP I've ever got to completion - so it's kind of bitter-sweet to let it go. I'm still not 100% thrilled with every tiny bit, and I'm sure I'll look back with regret on a few aspects, but I'm proud of what has come of the 14+ months of on-and-off work (mostly off at times, in fairness). Much of my "not 100% thrilled with everything" comments are related to the inability to get the exact look I want in-game due to lighting, planting, and texturing limitations - but I'm as pleased with it as I think I'll get. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of building this, even though I may not have thought that at every step, but it's definitely been a journey. I sincerely hope you all enjoy!
