Fallow's Crest Golf Club:
*Note: This is my entry into VctryLnSprts Fantasy Theme Design Contest. Are you ready to take up the challenge waiting for you at Fallow's Crest Golf Club? Named after the species of deer that make the location their habitat, the trail is carved into the foothills, craggy outcrops & cliff edges that often provide spectacular views & breathtaking scenery. In the Autumn time the herds of fallow deer come down from the hilltop crest & lower ridges preparing to spend the winter grazing on the lowland grasses. Elder protective stags watch on from afar curious of the intrepid golfers still prepared to brave the elements. Mutual respect exists – the majestic beasts know the sporadic “thwacks & pings” which break the blissful silence are not to be feared whilst the players keep to the confines of the course hopeful of a sighting they can boast of in the clubhouse or back home to their children. Theme: Harvest Atmospheric Conditions: Mid morning, autumnal low sun with light cloud. Holes: 18. Approximate Length; 7,100 yards. Par: 72 (4 x par 3, 10 x par 4, 4 x par 5). Fairways firmness: Firm. Greens Firmness: Firm. Greens speed: Medium @ 154 feet putt rating. Cart Hire: No (terrain unsuitable). Crowds on course for tournaments: No, although holes 1, 9, 10 & 18 have spectator viewing areas within the clubhouse grounds. Tees: Black – Championship: 7,090 yards. …...... Blue – Members: 6,888 yards. …....... Red – Ladies & Youths: 6,684 yards. Assorted pics:
Video showcase:
Spikes are an absolute necessity here as sharp elevation changes & harsh terrain are the main defensive elements of this fantasy themed course. Correct club choice especially on the all important approach shots will be vital to achieve anything under par.

Loved it! So many cool holes Tested it earlier and scored a solid -18, here's the vid: Apologies for my bad language, though it looks like Twitch has muted the audio since I had the radio playing at the same time, so there won't be too many naughty words...

Thanks again Simon for another course mate Water and Rock work very good as usual Some of the Down hill elevations were a bit too much Just didnt spark me up this course buddy Tbh for me it`s not up there with your others ,but it`s ok though Few odd shapes here and there Some holes were a bit awkward in their design, but who cares, its golf and fun to play But hey look ,it`s different, your ideas and breaks the mould of the norm Appreciate the video and all the effort btw, thats alot of work creating a course, then making a video as well
I played RTJ Golf trail Ross bridge as well as yours today , now that is a 4-5 star course
Hope you appreciate honest feedback, as not worth sugar coating anything as no point doing that
Gave yours 3 stars
really appreciate all your time creating courses for all to play
Cheers Sam

To be fair pingzing, he was designing elements specifically for the fantasy contest he’s in.

Thanks all for the early positive feedback........ very pleased Fallow's Crest is ticking most of the boxes. Rest assured pingzing most of the "awkward" elements & "odd shapes" were purely driven by the competition overview VctryLnSprts set out. Think "old Sam" mate but with spit n' polish - don't worry my friend... "new Sam" will be back for the next one. That was some round @larrymalone ..... a shame the audio towards the end was lost to copyright cos I was really enjoying hearing your comments. I watched Eric play the course earlier on Twitch (past broadcasts) & saw you were boasting about your score - I thought you were kidding!!

Just played this SAM and I thought it was a beautiful course with some magnificent views - some of the holes are breathtaking! Don't quite understand pingzings criticism - I think this is one of your best designs, different strokes for different folks I guess. Anyway as well as looking spectacular it was also eminently playable and I thoroughly enjoyed my round here. Well done me old china. Classic. 5 stars.

Just as presented, 'fantasy design' at it's best. Nicely done! I'm gonna' go out on a limb & say your Jurassic size rock work (look's very cool)) chewed up most of your plant meter! Ha! I was expecting a bogeysaurus to rear it's head out from behind one of somewhere but alas, it didn't show! (lol) Nice work man, fun course!

Just played this. I really enjoyed my round but my brain hurts from all the maths!
I've noted these comments as I played.
Hole 3 - Liked the funky stepped fairways for the drive.
Hole 4 - Love this hole! What's not to like when you hit Driver to 8 feet for eagle!
Hole 5 - Interesting chip from behind the green with the camera behind the waterfall!
Hole 8 - Fun drive. Nice of you to provide a row boat for a spot of fishing! I made sure I didn't miss right with my second.
Hole 9 - Lovely waterfall backdrop. I wonder where I've seen that recently!
Hole 10 - What a teeshot! Do I get a sherpa to help me down those steps?
Hole 12 - The stag gallery was a nice touch.
Hole 13 - I like the way this one climbs to the top of the plot.
Hole 14 - Another fun tee shot a bit like the 4th.
Hole 15 - Tough hole. Not surprised it is already showing as the stroke 1 hole. Watch out for low flying ravens!
Hole 18 - Nice finishing hole. More low-flying ravens. Anyone would think you are trying to bring Ravenswood to mind! ;-)
My only criticism is a minor one and that is some of the rock textures were stretched too far for XB1 resolutions.
Overall 5 star and favorited. Definitely the major on the Seniors next season!
BTW, I played Black Pin 1 and ended up -7. Good luck in the comp.

Wait, were those ravens or hawks...? Am I going to have a bunch of bird watchers on twitter calling me a noob because I thought they were hawks on my twitch vid?

Wait, were those ravens or hawks...? Am I going to have a bunch of bird watchers on twitter calling me a noob because I thought they were hawks on my twitch vid? There are only 3 flying bird options in the designer; (sea) eagles, seagulls or ravens. Only the latter is all black so I'm fairly sure they were the ravens.

Well that's weird, I'm certain the birds I saw in my round were brown, must have been a trick of the light I suppose. Gonna have to take off a star for misleading bird lighting I'm afraid Sam.

Many thanks to all that have played & the continued positive feedback. The ravens were a last minute addition - I didn't expect them to be stealing the show.... it's a shame HB don't throw in an audio file of their "cries" like they do with the gulls on coastal themes. Indeed it would be great if the other available animals had sound files when in range like the waterfalls do. Hopefully Fallow's Crest gets approved cos I can't wait to see what karma4u chooses as the official photos
