The Club At Montecito:
The California Santa Barbara Mountains provide a stunning backdrop to one of the regions premier golf clubs. Situated inland on the eastern coastal plains The Club At Montecito is open to members all year round due to the unique Mediterranean like climate conjured up by the area's air pressure & foothill winds known locally as “sundowners” which can push temperatures upwards of 90 degrees even in the winter months! The lush, varied landscape is broken up by rocky outcrops & tropical flora that flourish among the more natural trees & vegetation. Theme: Tropical Atmospheric Conditions: Summer, mid morning, very little cloud cover. Holes: 18. Approximate Length; 7370 yards. Par: 72 (4 x par 3, 10 x par 4, 4 x par 5). Fairways firmness: Normal. Greens Firmness: Normal. Greens speed: Medium @ 159 feet putt rating. Cart Hire: Yamaha, Sun Classic G5E & G3E subject to availability. Crowds on course for tournaments: Yes Tees: Black – Championship, 7366 yards. …...... Gold – Members, 7194 yards. …....... Red – Ladies, 7025 yards. Assorted pics:

Additional Information:
The river which flows down from the mountains & eventually out into the Pacific ocean adds an infrequent water hazard to the outbound 9 holes whilst the inbound trail works its way inland up & around the historic bell tower & church with its small graveyard & visitors centre. The course as a whole offers a relaxing moderate challenge relying on distances, sand traps & the occasional green tier to defend the relatively easy par 72. Note:
The Club At Montecito is my entry into the TGCTours Designer Challenge Series competition 2017.

I would NOT have said "SAM" if someone had asked me who designed this one. Way to step out on a limb and try something different! This one plays really nicely man. I like the way the water in the river seems to be a little "high" and meet the land at a shallow angle. Nice job bubba.

Cheers Reeb..... Music to my ears your post - I really appreciate & value your opinion(s)...... The last competition (Summer Showdown) taught me a harsh lesson. Not saying I'm going to win - but hopefully I've taken a couple of steps in the right direction

Definitely stepped up and out of your normal comfort zone and style of designs you usually create Fantastic panoramic views off most tees This one is opened up- lots of forgiving , options off tee, nice good size greens for tiers and pin locations. Waterways sit well into terrain and so does the Rock work One of the holes has the rocks planted well down into ground and creates are fantastic look That old church is good stuff Sam on the 16th hole , that graveyard- wow- very interesting I put my ball into the water down the right side, it left me playing out of the water with a drop , looked like a mircale was happening as i was walking on the water. Like the rolling hills and mountains in the background Finished with a miracle eagle on the last-love the views
Totally different form your previous courses, reeb is right, you wouldn`t know that sam did this Only found 1 specific area that needs some attention- you know where it is - -thats all i could find out of sorts
Well done, very surprised and should get good ratings
Thanks Sam

Looking forward to this entry very much. SAM was already one of my favorite designers, but I'm intrigued by the comments about it being different. Can't wait to see it, hopefully later today!

Cheers gents.... thanks for the kind words - 'specially pingzing who, whilst a good cyber friend, always gives honest invaluable feedback. We go back a long way & he can be my harshest critique & I rarely find myself questioning his knowledge of the game or course design. Thanks buddy.

Great job Sam. Enjoyed this one. Definately a toned down version of your normal style but every bit as good. Should do well in the contest!

Many thanks Chad & Dale.....
Montecito was designed on PC. No reports of any lag on either console so far - fingers crossed as there's a tonne of rocks manually added. I'd appreciate If any XBox & PS4 players could let me know either way? Cheers!

I've read the write-up, checked out the pics, and watched the vid. Now, I've GOT to try this out for real! Looks fantastic, Simon. I've always been a fan of your courses, so looking forward to experiencing your "evolution".
