A couple of times I rolled off the fairway and straight down into a jungle. Took many many shots to get back out. To me, that should be out of bounds. Take your two shot penalty and move on. But not here. Before you take your first shot from that area, you have the option of declaring your ball unplayable. Out-of-bounds within the confines of the course property has been the subject of much debate, and it's up to the designer to declare any area to be out of bounds. Some designers will mark obviously unplayable areas OB, but others will put the onus on the player to decide whether a spot is unplayable. Did that. I still had to hit out of it.

I mean it’s a nice course, and there are red markers next to those areas, the ball took a funny bounce on both occasions and down I went. I immediately declared unplayable but it did nothing.

I will def. look for that the next time ( hopefully never lol ) t happens. Thanks.

I suggest playing a practice round and taking an unplayable after hitting off the first tee just to get used to the mechanic, should you ever need to take one in competition again.

The same thing happened to me. Was not doing well for the tourney, +8 I believe going into the 4th round. Playing ok, but then on the 16th par 3, bad bounce and into the wasteland, couldn't see crap and couldn't for the life of me get out. 11 shots later I finally putted it in.
So on Xbox, how would one declare it as unplayable and choose where to drop the ball.
This bit of info would have saved me quite a few strokes .. no contention to win, but at least not in the cellar either.

I dislike the jungle tropical style courses. I kept getting stuck in the rocks and shrubs trees etc deep down and it was impossible to hit out so had to max out shots. Recorded my worse ever score over four rounds 55 over shameful anyway here's to the next course good luck everybody.

However I've heard some talk about declaring a lie unplayable so I will have to research that not aware of it would have cut 25 plus shots off my score. There were red posts but when I landed in the areas there was no OB notification.

There were red posts but when I landed in the areas there was no OB notification. When you play a course for the first time, a simple tip is to get an overhead view (O on PS4 / B on XB1) for each hole before each tee shot. You’ll have a look at the tee to green layout, and all areas that are considered OB will be shaded in red. Cheers!🍻

There were red posts but when I landed in the areas there was no OB notification. All posts (whatever colour) have no meaning in the game - the designer allows you to add them, but they don't define anything. The exception at times is that any white posts with OOB on them CAN be used to show where out of bounds is. And a red post will never show OOB anyway - red posts are lateral water hazards (in real life)

The jungles cost me a top 5 finish. Ended the tournament in 10th though. I will take that! 😊👍 Hopefully I can carry that with me on the next course Campbell’s Run. Good luck everybody!

You declare 'unplayable' through the pause menu.
It then gives you a moving cursor where you can choose to drop your ball anywhere back in a straight line from where your ball finished up.
If there are no suitable places to drop your ball press the right shoulder button (I think) and it toggles to replay your shot from the previous spot, obviously with a one shot penalty.
Hope that helps

BOB ROSS HAPPY TREE TOURNAMENT
Well, after a very short lived visit to CC-E I am back to where I belong! lol
Starting out well though with a solid -6 after the 1st. round. This is a much better course than what we had to endure the last two weeks.
Good luck everybody!
