So my goal for the final round was to shoot -8 to get to -20 on the week. I didn’t think I could do it, but I decided to play loose and think that I’d probably be getting 2 strikes anyway...
So the front nine was very good. 5 birdies, no bogies, and I only needed to shoot -3 on the back. Including one on hole 9, I had 4 straight birdies, and was -8 thru 12, right at my goal. So listen to the next 5 holes...
13- bogey 14- birdie 15- bogey 16- birdie 17- bogey
wow. It was almost like I had planned it that way lol... although I obviously hadn’t since I needed to birdie 18 to hit my goal. My drive wasn’t exactly great... I hit it left and barely hit the fairway. I was hoping to hit it to the right side so I could get my 6 wood across, but that didn’t happen, so I hit my 245 club from 249 out... great. I landed just off the green, 17 yards from the hole, and thought, okay, I never f*ck up flops, so I can hit this close and make birdie. Well somehow, on the shot I’m most comfortable with, I got a very slow downswing and ended up just short of the ridge. Then, although I suck at putting, I hit a 29-footer to hit my goal...
Really hoping I can clear my strikes this week, but unfortunately, that doesn’t look likely. Anyway, no pars in the last 10 holes, so a very roller-coastery round to end the week

If it weren’t for that third round I might have a shot at CC-B.... ugh. Maybe next week.

Shorter course this week. I was going to use tour clubs for the first time in an actual tour event, but that’ll wait until next week, I guess.
R1 -1 R2 -5 R3 -7 R4 -4 TOTAL -17
My putting is mind-numbingly bad. I say it every single week, but I can get my ball from tee to fairway to green pretty well, and I can’t f*cking putt. It’s been like this since I started the game in TGC1. No matter what I try, I just don’t get it.
Caught some fire on the back nine of round 3... after a horrendous double on hole 1, I got to -1 to end that nine, before making 5 birdies in a row on the back plus another on 18. Hoping to get away with only 1 strike.
I don’t want to sound stuck up, but I think I have the talent of a web player. The problem is that when my putter gets hot, my irons get cold, and vice versa, so if I can piece those two together, I’ll be much better. Anyway, till next week.

Just letting thread roll folks, no need for me to be putting courses on each week, just banter away.

found it only I’m in CC-B. Thought I was in CC-C since that’s what it says at the top under my name.

Honestly, this is the stupidest course I’ve ever played. I’m not saying that because it’s hard and I suck, but some holes don’t give you a chance. Hole 17 is the one I’m most furious with... with a headwind, I can hardly clear the gap. I missed the fairway by hardly anything in round 1 and had to lay up because of how dumb the hole design is. Maybe it looks good, but it plays like sh!t.
Sigh... I need to stop taking this game so seriously
R1 -2 R2 +3 R3 -1 R4 +1 Total +1
No joke, I hated every moment of this week’s tournament. The course was mind-numbingly boring. Taking a week off and then it’s on to Ravenswood.

If 17 is the par 5, then I agree with you. I like this course a lot. It's well designed, beautifully planted, and (mostly) fair. I've only played a practice round with #1 pins and there was only one questionable one with some yellow and even a little red right around the hole.
The par 5 in question is a poorly designed hole. With no fairway from about 300 yards off the tee until the green, there's nowhere to hit the ball to if you hit a bad drive. You literally can't lay up. It gives the player zero options which is, by definition, a poor design. It's too bad because the rest of the course is excellent.

Yep, that’s what I was referring to. Just an unfair hole if you miss by just a little bit. If I hadn’t played a practice round, I wouldn’t have known to lay up, either.

Had a good first round. Could have been better, but I'm mostly happy. Was cruising along at -8 until a bogey at 15. Hit 2W off the tee at 17 and my layup wound up in the rough. Then a bad 'slow' swing that missed the green. Scrapped for a par, but I really needed better. Had to get up and down on 18 for a 65.

Second round just destroyed what would have been a nice tournament effort for me.
65-71-67-66 -19
At least I should (knock wood) erase my strikes this week. {Fingers crossed}

Looking at the leaderboard tonight just saddens me more about my second round. Had I scored a 68 instead of 72, I would have an exemption. At least my play this week was miles ahead of the last two weeks, so I've got something to build on. I want to get that world ranking under 1000 so I need to step it up these next few weeks.

Hi all - just a newbie question.
I've just started and I'm in CC-C. Is there a way of finding out what tee box the tournaments are played from? I assumed (incorrectly) that it was always the longest one. Did some practice for the Beirut Championship, only to find the tees were the second longest, not the longest.
Also - can you exit out of a round part way through without penalty, or do you have to completely finish it.
Didn't do too well and only scored -1 on the first round. Want to do better.
