This was posted earlier in the Shoutbox but I was surprised nobody posted here yet. Really hard not to get excited... Verne Lundquist in the tower on the 16th green at Magnolia...
Game Informer article about TGC 2
The article comes with a 4+ minute video with descriptions of features, clips and interviews. Excuse me while I visit the restroom....

Even during trailers for games yet to release, that pesky blueorfe sits atop the leaderboard if you look quickly enough

I wonder what the "societies" will mean for us here at TGCTours -- I hope it is going to be designed to enhance and not supplant anything we've got going on with this community!!

I'm worried that societies will split this community we have grown, we have 10 tours going on here I wish they could have just integrated the TGCTours system into the game. Basically move the website into the game. I understand societies are somewhat supposed to take on that job but why not just buy the "rights" and core idea of TGC Tours from its creators. I highly doubt we'd be seeing TGC 2 if it weren't for the TGCTours website and community. It kept a lot of players coming back each day/week for a long time. I think they missed a huge opportunity here to integrate an awesome online competitive system that's already proven to work very well.

Agreed with the concern over a possible out-of-game vs. in-game split. I'm sure a very well-organized plan is currently being devised to keep things intact once 2 is released. As a player with a baby arriving in June and very little current disposable free time to play but a few rounds per week, my concern is with the virtual "cash" needed to enter societies and build a bankroll needed to enter the anticipated bigger events. I might be wrong, but it seems that Anthony said that 'money' will be earned by playing and winning tournaments in-game, and that money can be used to join societies. My concern is not having enough time to 'build' that TGC2 bankroll despite having logged so many hundreds of rounds in TGC 1. Again, I'm not too concerned because these things will likely get worked out in due time, but it's something I've thought about.

I could easily see societies replacing what is going on in TGCTours if the admins are tired of doing all this. This website takes a lot of time, effort and such and i can see a society being setup for tournaments, majors, ect with just this area for message boards. No need to submit scores, sign your card or sign up. If you are part of the society you can play or not. What will be interesting is seeing if there is a way to do the different tours. Can a person still go from CC to Web to PGA/EURO? That all may have to be done manually here.

Doesn't it just mean that TGCT can set up their own society (s) which we simply all join? Same thing but with less work for them?
Also, there's quite a few of us who have donated or are donating money to this site in order to help keep it running. I've obviously got no problem with that, but if the site is going to fold with the release of TGC2 I'd like to think they would tell us. I'm sure they must have some idea what's going to happen by now?
Very exciting trailor!

I'm sure they must have some idea what's going to happen by now? Think we are all waiting on the beta at the very least - hard to plan when you don't know how much/little you can do with the new system. Just looking at the info out now my first thoughts are the societies are much closer to what we wanted our Country Club feature to be than what our tours currently are. We had always wanted to run the Country Clubs as a completely separate entity to the tours - something to do casually/for fun after your tour rounds were over. Definitely reserving judgement until I get hands on though.

With how successful this place has been and the potential for what could happen if they get TGC2 right, I find it amazing that HB hasn't actively involved you in what's going on. A link to TGCT should have been on the front cover!

For the part the showed the crowd feature, in hoping for something like these:
Anyway, I, like a few others, am worried about how societies will work with TGC Tours, but I'm really excited about all the customization we have in the designer... I'm really hoping we actually get the game by spring!

I don't see why/how Societies would replace TGCT.
You'd be bound/limited by whatever prize money/trophy/ranking system was in game, which will probably not be a patch on what the guys here have created.
The same tournament/tour system we have now, with a TGCT SocietyVarious TGCT Societies for fun events/community stuff sounds ideal to me.
Game itself is looking promising.

Societies won't replace TGCT. Because unlike TGCT, I doubt that is cross-platform... which is why TGCT has so many competitors.

I'm also worried that the in-game experience - within societies, or elsewhere - won't feature some/any of the other features I very much enjoy here at TGCT: Shoutbox, the variety of forums, the live streams, the daily dose of Irving, Doyley, Canuck, and the supporting cast of characters. These are the things that elevate TGC from being merely a vast collection of electrons and transforms it into a real vibrant community of actual human beings.
