How was the 2nd round today Mark? i started the front nine hot again and finished at 6 under even with several pars coming to the turn. I missed several make able putts but made a few I probably shouldn't have. Golfing gods got even with me I guess. My swing got a little loose on me at the turn and I started pressing. Shoulda had a beer to calm the nerves but tried to work my way through. I finished up at 7 under today and that puts me at -15 for the tournament. Not real good but not horrible either.
You stated yesterday your goal was to make the cut. What do you think your chances are now? if you remember I said if I shot another 64 I liked my chances of playing the weekend. It looks to me that it's going to take at least -16 to make it right now unless these late pairings fall apart or the wind kicks up. I had 2 bogeys coming in. Without those I would have been in good shape. I did finish birdie birdie so I at least gave myself a small chance. Oh well it was fun to visit South Africa and I got some practice in prior to kicking off the pga back home.
what are your plans now? well my flight to Hawaii isn't scheduled until late Sunday night so I guess I'll hang out and see if I get lucky and make it. If I miss the cut I guess I'll do some sight seeing. I can't believe how good everyone is out here. It might be a long year of grinding to make cuts. Looks like I'm going to have to log some time in practice rounds to try and get competive. Thanks for the questions but I'm going to go have a beer and grab some grub.

Andy Barton walks into the press tent after round 2 with a suitcase in his hand.
Hi Andy you don't look very happy what was the highlight of your round No highlight I'm afraid after a very poor first round I was just pleased to post a respectable score in round 2 with my 63
What was the lowlight of your tournament the first round nothing went to plan on the front nine and I was still even after 9,the winds were getting up to around 10mph but I stuck with it and got to -4 stood on the 17th tee. I miscued my drive and ended up in the semi and then duck hooked my 2nd into the water and finished up with a double bogey 7 and a very disappointing total of 70.
what did you think of the course it was a lovely course but with the very receptive greens I found it didn't suit my inconsistent swing and I couldn't put it close to the pin enough times to score low
How did you fare on the leaderboard ha ha well i was sitting third from last at one stage
And what are your plans now Well as you can see I have got my case with me and if you would excuse me I wont be needed here at the weekend so I have a plane to catch to Abu Dhabi so I can get some much needed practice in for next week.

Entering the press tent is surprise PGA Tour card holder Fred Parrow who shot early morning scores of 62 (-10) and 64 (-8) in his professional debut. How's the nerves? Much better now. I was well pleased with a bogey-free 1st round 10 under and thought I was in good shape to get over the projected -16 cut.
You were -14 after 9 in your 2nd round, any worries at that point? Certainly, a bogey would have been disastrous so I got very conservative, almost too conservative. I parred the 1st 5 holes on the back 9 and was running out of time to get to the cut line. A nice headwind on the long par 3 15th allowed me to get a 3 iron close for birdie. I birdied the short par 4 16th and then a huge flop in eagle from 33 yards out on the par 5 17th should be enough for me to play this weekend.
So you're 8 strokes behind the leader, do you think you have a shot? Eagleton is a great course for scoring. I've had birdie and eagle looks on almost every hole. I think anyone with a hot putter could bring home the trophy.
Thanks for your time and good luck this weekend. Good luck to all, the fans are going to get their money's worth of thrills down the stretch!

As I walk up to the podium, I see the quick succession of flash bulbs that cause me to snap out of the daze I was in. Just moments ago I finished my 2nd round and can not believe what had just happened. I take my seat and try to settle my nerves, the sweat that had just dried from my hands is now forming on my brow, and the questions begin.
You are a member of the PGA Tour and decided to tee it up here in S.A., was the time difference a factor?
I wouldn't say so. I've been over here shooting a couple practice rounds to acclimate to the difference in time.
Speaking of practice rounds, I noticed you had a cast on your right hand during your rounds.
Yep, I fractured my hand a little over three weeks ago and just had the cast removed today.
Did it affect your 1st or 2nd rounds at all playing so quickly after its removal?
I would be lying if I said it didn't. I had to make some adjustments with the sticks while practicing, and it took a little bit to get back to my normal swing once I started officially.
What was the highlight of your round/tournament?
For sure it was holing out on #9 in my 2nd round. The wind was slightly in my face, and I clubbed up to take into scout the elevation. I didn't like how i hit it because i shanked it a little, but that little breeze kept it on target.
What was the low-light of your round/tournament?
The back 9 after that shot. I think I looked at my card and knew what the cut was probably going to be, and at that point I was sitting -14 total. I figured I was gonna be good. Dead wrong. I bogeyed 15, and needed two birdies on 3 holes to get to what I think should be the cut (-16). Had to birdie 18, damn that was a knee rattler. Thanks guys.

Heya Acid, so how did you fair on your 3rd round?
Hey mate, grab another one of those Hansa Pilsner if you don't mind. Nice drop. Well the course showed some teeth today with an 8mph wind, gusts of 10-12mph which I really enjoyed. I shot my best round ever, a 61, on the weekend round of my very first tournament. Couldn't be more chuffed.
Did you find your putter again?
Well I didn't miss too many easy putts, which I am prone to do. The wind seemed to aid my game, I know, nuts?
Nuts?
Yeah, you got any peanuts mate. Makes this South African brew go down a treat.
Plans for the night? A big rest for the final day?
Nope, my caddy seems to have made friends with the local club owner so it looks like local steaks and pilsners will occupy my night. I know, I will pay for it, and one day I will learn that lesson...

I was over the moon to have scrapped the cut in q-school but knew that made me bottom of the euro league so I had a lot of work to do. I'd had some low scores during practice but these didn't quite appear in the first 2 rounds where I scored, both times, -8. Both were very different a weak start and a strong finish and a strong start and a weak finish the next. My third round was again -8 and now I've made the cut I'm really happy with my first full your and relaxed and excited to see where I finish and very much looking forward to Emirates next week after getting a practice round of -12. Good luck on your final rounds guys

Woah man, I hope you didn't drive here? What happened to your face? Did you use your face as a ball cleaner?
Fore! That's what the world would be yelling if I drove. I would love to insult you but you wouldn't understand. Just give me a water would ya.
Big time. So did you even play the final round?
Yup. Well remember when I said I will pay the price for my late nights? Well I just did. I battled a crazy hangover and a brisk 12mph wind in this blazing SA sun - I wished I was at the beach not on the golf course.
Speaking of beaches, you sure did like playing in them!
Funny guy today. I think I had 3 bunker saves, so I'm pretty happy about that. The winds though seemed to be more headwind or scything side wind and my brain couldn't think-a-ficate in that heat. Left the ball in the rough or way back and my 2nd shots were as rough as a badgers arse.
Final score and overall impressions of your maiden European Tour event?
I had a final scrapping round of 66 for a four round total of 254 or 34 under. Excellent week and excellent camaraderie shown in the 1st tournament. I would also like to say thanks to the organisers and the Hotel Management for their discretion in my err "Caddy's" indiscretions. And the cheque! See you next year... oh I have a joke for you, think you might enjoy it.
Shoot.
An old married couple were at home watching the TV. The husband had the remote and was switching back and forth between a fishing channel and the porn channel.
The wife became more and more annoyed and finally said:
"For God's sake! Leave it on the porn channel. You already know how to fish!

Now that your first tournament is in the books, how do you think you did and what are your expectations going forward?
First off, how in the world can I follow Acid up here? That guy is great and he always makes me laugh when listening to him speak.
Well to be honest, I was hoping to just make the cut and get the valuable tournament experience. With all the quality players in the field, especially the PGA guys, that was the main objective. Shot a good opening round 62 but then nerves set in. Knowing the cut was going to be -16 or -17, I struggled in the 2nd with a 66 and found myself right on the cut line. Thankfully, that was enough to get into the weekend.
Rd3 & 4 were just uneventful. Played well enough to make a bunch of pars, just couldn't get the putter going. Finishing with a 68 & 67 is somewhat disappointing after my first 2 rounds. I wanted to be at -8 for each round and only hit that mark once.
Overall a great experience, from the staff, fellow players, and gallery. As for what expectations I'm placing on myself, well they will change throughout the year. With the majority of PGA guys headed back to the States, I'll play that by ear and see how the field looks each week. As for next week, just want to play on the weekend and keep improving. Hopefully I can do enough over the year to maintain my card. While I have the drive and desire to win, I have to be realistic with myself at this stage in my career, especially as a tour rookie.

3RD ROUND -7
Well that was a bit pathetic now wasn' it? Someone like you shouldn't be carding them scores... Tell me about it Jim! I bring you round to do personal interviews after rounds and be positive... not take the ****
Fair dues, apologies for that... But in all honesty, that was not good? No, I had a great start, -4 after 6 most would take... But then hole 7 cropped up and I hit the "£$%^&* tree.... Then the 2nd shot went 20 yards, so at that point my club went into the nearest tree. Thought i'd snapped it... My caddy Gregory bent it back into shape but the round was gone. -2 after 7 holes.
Another bogey on the 10th? Yep, shameful. First bogeys of the tournament and -7 sees me scraping T25. I ought to be fighting for top 10 but feel will need at least -14 in final round to have a chance.
You playing that round now? You taking the %^&*? Il play that tomorrow when I know what to target!

With some of the top golfers avoiding the press tent, we were able to pull aside Fred Parrow who finished the SA Open at -36 for a Top 50 finish. Pleased with your performance?
Absolutely. Totally exceeded my expectations, making the cut was a thrill in my first event. With the competition out there just playing on the weekend is nothing to take for granted. After 2 rounds and 8 off the lead you thought you had a chance?
Well there were 40 golfers between me and the lead so it would have taken something special on Saturday. Sadly on moving day I moved the other way with a very uneventful 66 (-6). So what were you playing for on Sunday?Any purse money I could get. It's a long season and every shot counts in some small way, so I will never throw in the towel so to speak. Any highlights for the tournament?Playing all 4 rounds bogey-free was really big for me. Some may say I played too conservative but for me keeping red numbers off my card is a really big deal. But singly, the hole out eagle in the 4th round was a real treasure. Turns out laying that in from 205 yards on the 12th hole is the 2nd longest scoring shot among the Xbox players. Hal, please run the clip for all to see one more time Great shot Freddy and best of luck back over in Hawaii. Thanks guys, can't wait to get lei'ed.

Early on this Sunday Morning let's talk to one of the first finishers, Jacko, who finished 30 under par here at the SA Open Championship.
So, Jacko, anyone watching Q School would have struggled to believe you'd make the cut, are you happy just to take home a pay cheque?
Absolutely, to make the European Tour after my Q School performance was a big surprise but i've worked hard on my game and i'm thrilled to make the cut when some very talented players, including some from the PGA Tour, didn't manage to.
What was the highlight of your tournament?
I'd have to say my first Round 61. The putter was hot and it was great fun.
What was the low-light of your tournament?
The Back 9 of the 3rd round and the opening few holes of my final round really cost me. I can't afford to have that kind of blip in the future if i am to compete in this field.
And your target for the rest of the season?
Keep bringing home the dollar, or the euro, or the Rands......you get the idea

A disappointing finish there Rob? Yes, I am extremely frustrated to come off only -12 for the final 2 rounds when I hit -22 for the first 2. Worryingly enough I did not take my foot off the gas and if they had been reversed I wouldn't have made the cut!
What are you expecting from tournaments this year? Well my goal is to make every cut. I figure I need to go now to get some good practice rounds at Pominville in before I play my 1st and 2nd rounds in a few days time
Thats difficult tbh, It will take you a day just to get there?! Yeah but luckilly I have my PS4 on my jet and they have a game called the Golf Club on it. Someone has recreated Pominville exactly on the game! So I will be able to scout the course on my way over there.
Ah thats quite clever! What do you hope from Pominville? I want to make the cut and then we shall see. When do I get my money for my T50 finish?
