What an amazing 4 rds I have just played, absolutely over the moon with final score, plus an added bonus of a Hole in One on Hole 2 of the 3rd round, good luck to everyone who has to play there rounds. I think your 3rd round has broken the course record on all platforms! Going to take some performance for you to be toppled!

Thanks Rob, my only intention standing on the 1st tee was, for the year, make cuts and hopefully squeak a top ten finish somewhere, everything just fell in to place, played sensibly and thankfully made some good putts, 1 bogey on hole 18 of rd 2 was my only disappointing part of the whole 4 rounds.

Great tournament Andi, hopefully thats good enough to keep the trophy in a Euro Tour players hands.

Hey guys no disrespect and I am all for backslapping but lets remember what the Press tent was designated for
"The Press Tent will be a feature on TGC Tours where you can come in after a round or tournament and answer some questions from the press. You can let off some steam or tell about some great (or not so great) shots. Some of your answers will be used in Tournament recaps. Have fun, keep it clean! "

How have your practice rounds gone so far?
Eagleton is a wonderful course filled with risk/reward opportunities. It goes without saying that you need to be in the short stuff to have the best opportunity to birdie hunt. Most of the holes have relatively open fairways and even when the winds are gusting, they are fairly easy to hit. The exceptions come with a couple of the par 5s and one or two par 4s. There you have to be in the fairway if you want a chance of going for the green in two on the longer holes.
All that being said, pretty much every hole is capable of giving away a birdie. In my 10 practice rounds, I have birdied each hole multiple times, the trick of course is being consistent. The first 3 holes offer great opportunities for birdies and I feel unfortunate if I'm not approaching Hole 4 at least 3 under par. The fourth hole is all about placement on the green in relation to the hole. If you aren't close the slope of the green makes 3 putting a distinct possibility. I suspect the course average will be at least -4 or -5 minimum over the course of the tournament.
Finally while the wind does make the course more difficult there are several holes where high winds make it much easier. For example there is a par 3 that drops 44 feet to the green. WIth a 10-12 mph wind in your face, you just need to line up your 4 iron and hit it sweet, very little adjustment needed. The other long par 3 at 225 yards is the same way, depending on the wind a standard 5 wood or 3iron with little to no adjustment will get you within 10 feet.
Overall, I really like the design and I suspect that -40 - -45 will be a good score to shoot for if you want to win and according to some of the scores I saw during practice, there are many people capable of shooting those scores.
I start playing my first round tomorrow. Going to get some sleep and a good breakfast. Good luck to everyone!

Sorry thrangar, I will do a mini report.
HOW DID YOU FEEL ON 1ST TEE OF THE NEW SEASON?
A bit edgy to be honest, did not know quite what to expect, practice rounds where very inconsistent.
YOU BOGEYED 18th ON ROUND 2, DID THIS HURT?
Yes It did a bit, played sensible golf through 35 holes, but left myself short on birdie putt and then was to aggressive with par putt.
ROUND 3 WAS A BRILLIANT ROUND FOR YOURSELF, WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE ROUND?
It has to be the Hole In One on hole 2, was in complete shock.
YOU POSTED A SOLID 4 ROUND SCORE, CAN YOU BUILD ON THIS IN UPCOMING WEEKS?
I would like to think so, but was it just one of those tournaments where you play well, I will continue trying and see where it leads.
HOW DID YOU FIND THE COURSE ITSELF?
Thoroughly enjoyed it obviously, greens where receptive, and if you put the ball on the fairway and green you give yourself birdie opportunity's.
WHAT WHERE YOUR INTENTIONS FOR THE SESASON?
Well I just wanted to have a good account of myself, hopefully squeak a top 10 somewhere, but mostly to make the cut week in and week out. I know that's a big ask with the players on the course as they are all very good players.
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND GOOD LUCK FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON.
Thank you.

Q.Youve just walked off the 18th hole of your first TGC European Tour Debut. How does it feel?
A.Well Euwan my emotions are running high just now.Ive waited many many years to get here and the anticipation of my first full round gave me a sleepless night .Right now ? I`m just glad it is out of the way and now i can focus all my energies on competing with the rest of this wonderful field that has assembled!
Q.The course is playing really well, what were your thoughts on the layout?
A.I was very impressed with the greens and fairway and in general i was blown away with the whole layout, compliments to the greenkeeping staff .It`s very fair and if you shoot straight your going to shoot low that's for sure!!
Q.You finished with a first round 65 are you happy with that?
A.I left some shots out there Euwan but overall a 65 in my first round is fine, looking forward to trying to push on and shoot lower though as i will need a lot lower that n this to make it for the cut!

Feherty catches up with NevadaBallin after the 18th hole of Round 4 on his way to the Clubhouse:
Feherty: Nice round there to finish the opening event of the season for you Jimmy. How did it feel to you? JPS: I felt good.I thought I was striking the ball well throughout the tourney for the most part. Like most of us though, I feel like I left a lot of birds out there but that's golf. Next week maybe they drop in ..... or maybe I leave even more out there.
Feherty: You had a hole in one in the first round. JPS: Yea, that was nice. Haven't had one in a while, was good to get that in there. Anyone ever tell you that you look a little bit like Vincent Price?
Feherty: No Jimmy. Never. So did you enjoy the week in South Africa? JPS: Yes I did. It was a lot of fun. Great hosts for the event, very nice golf course. I hope to make this event a crossover yearly stop from the PGA, I had a great time.
Feherty: Now that the tour has started, what goals have you set for yourself? JPS: First goal is to get to the men's room before you track me down, I gotta pee really bad. Outside of that, I'm just looking to get more consistent. I'm far from the best player in the world but I feel that I'm just dangerous enough to possibly sneak a tourney win in at some point. The broader picture - and I think all of us on tour share this - is to qualify for the Majors and make as much money as possible. Consistency will be the key.
Feherty: You think you can win an event this year? JPS: I think I can win everything, all of the time haha! I mean, that's always my mindset going into an event - play to win. It's why I practice so much. If I didn't play to win then the practice becomes wasted time. In reality, with so many players on tour, it's going to take a solid, consistent and very special effort to win any event on the tour. I feel like I'm capable, but it will come down to execution on every shot for it to happen. We'll see. The long term goal is to finish in the Top 50 at season's end.
Feherty: Thank you Jimmy. Go run to the bathroom before you make a mess of yourself on international TV. NevadaBallin finish the South African Open at -40 and is presently 5th on the PS4 leaderboard. Back to you Jim Nance.

Job Fickett steps into the tent after an opening round 64:
Q: A bogey-free round of golf today to start your year, must feel like you were in control today... A: Absolutely. I really wanted to get off to a strong start, stay focused through the middle of the round where I'd been struggling earlier this week, and just give myself some chances for birds. To not card a dropped shot, felt really solid.
Q: How about those three birdies on 16-18 to close out the round? Really looked like you were honed in on the final stretch. A: I let a few birdies slip away on 13 and 15. I thought I was going to have a really special round after the 31 on the front. Then I got in a little bit of a rut with the putter. I had a lot of sidehill gougers sliding right to left, and those have always plagued me. I started to get frustrated with myself for not making any putts. But I refocused on 16, played three methodical holes, and walked away with a pretty good score.
Q: Strategy going forward? A: Just keep grinding. There are plenty of birdies out there to be made, but I'm enjoying the South African summer and if something good comes my way, it will be icing on the proverbial cake. So far, I'm off to a great start to the season so I hope to keep it rolling.
