Well I got totally blown away by Dan and Pablo. I'm not as good as I thought I was!
Still enjoying the career. Onto Austria now. Pole position secured!

Been kinda dead on the F1 Thread lately, so....
My experience at Hungaroring:
Qualified on pole, after devoting tons of practice time (Quick Race) to finding a really good setup. Was almost .800 faster than Rosberg, who qualified second. Posted really good times in S1 and S3, but in the really technical S2, I struggled both in qualifying and during the race -- giving up ground almost every lap.
Pre-race weather report indicated a dry race, with only light rain to close it out. At 50% race distance (35 laps), I was counting on a sprinkle at around lap 29 or so -- I've since learned not to trust the Codemasters weatherman!
Everything was going smoothly, had built up an 18-second lead on everyone when it starts to drizzle around lap 20. I'm on softs for that stint, and figure I can hold out for the next 4 laps until the next pit window, when I can then slap Inters on. Then I get really lucky. Full Safety Car comes out on lap 23 when Raikonnen and two others go out of the race in one big shunt. So I nip into the pits for Inters, but a slow pit crew ensures I come out second behind Rosberg. Checking Race Overview, or whatever it's called, a lap later I see almost everyone's gone on full Wets.
As safety car phase ends, there's 9 laps remaining and it's coming down in buckets now. Somehow I manage to keep my nose in front of Rosberg, over the next 2-3 laps, and then we begin a couple laps of leapfrog -- with him outbraking me on one turn, and then me returning the favour a couple corners later. Over the final two laps, I'm just trying to take away passing opportunities (and relying on 2-3 flashbacks after he rams me for being a d*ck). Final turn, and I've got a half-car lead, but Rosberg's got the inside... but the Renault just doesn't have the grip anymore or the bhp to stay with the Mercedes, and the Silver Arrow takes it by less than .100 of second. :-(
Still enjoying F1 2016 a ton - even if it's only on medium difficulty, it's just right for me.

Sounds like another great race! I've just started practice there now. The weather has cost me good points on a couple of occasions but I have also benifited. I'm still loving the game, just haven't had the time for write ups.
Austria was crazy. My tyre wear was horrendous and although i was almost always in the lead I was always struggling.
Rain was predicted in 10 minutes. I was on softs but they were quite worn. Pit window was open but I didn't want to change twice. I tried to hold out, lost a few places and then got a puncture. It rained some 20 minutes later and I'd ended up making 5 pit stops and even put on well worn tyres once as I ran out of sets. I ended up in the points but I should have won. Does anyone know if it's possible to see what tyres you have remaining in race?
Tyre wear was certainly my main issue and when I arrived at my real life home circuit, Silverstone I knew I had to do something about it. I made some adjustments to car setup, changing everything which help with tyre conservation. Speed wasn't an issue. I managed to find a setup with comfortably allowed me to complete the tyre sim test and I even got one purple lap. I was quick too. Fastest on Q1 and Q2. I had 2 sets if soft left for the Q3. First set, made a mistake on both laps. I was in 4th. Second set, made a mistake on lap 1 and had not timed my attempt correctly, no time for a 2nd lap. Disappointing 4th place. I knew tyre wear would be a factor and I needed to build up a lead.
The race stated in wet conditions but dry weather was predicted. Rain was to turn lighter and then stop but when would the track be dry? Full wets for everyone at the start and I got past Riccardo with ease. I was certainly faster than the two Mercedes but they were more consistent. I did move up to second but lost the place after a mistake. Rosberg created a 5 second lead over Hamilton and I dropped back a few behind in 3rd. We both came into the pits together. I actually held him up from being released and I came out of the pits closer than before. I was great on the inters. I got past Hamilton and closed the gap to Rosberg. I took the lead and started to edge out a small gap but I couldn't get away. Rain had stopped now, a tactical decision had to be made. My inters were worn, the track still wet. Do I go into inters or risk slicks? Everyone else was changing to inters. I risked it and put slicks on. Boy did I struggle, I kept in on the track but I was so slow. I was losing 4 or 5 second per lap. I went back to 5th. I was cursing myself, why did I not put inters on? I lost more and more time but the track started to dry. I lost less time per lap. Eventually the track dried so much I was quicker than those on used inters. I got to third. I was still a long way behind the Mercedes. I was now gaining 6 seconds per lap. I had a chance to catch them. Hamilton pitted with 2 laps to go. Into second. Catching Rosberg at a rate on knots. I caught up with him 2 corners from the end and I comfortably went past for an exhilarating win. Loved every second of that race, well apart from the few laps losing time on slicks in damp conditions.

For me, there's still so much to enjoy in this game: - I like working on setups - and getting the satisfaction from working it out for myself
- The driver battles in-race are great (though the AI is still frustrating when you get rammed from behind) - though flashbacks solve that problem
- The graphics are great (even if I don't have a 4k display, like some people.
- The race strategy that comes into play with tire wear, weather, circuit type, and race position, race situation (SC) makes each outing completely unique.
That's why I enjoy sports sims so much more than any other kind of game - never the same situation twice - just too many variables that can make or break you.

For those who like to get into the nuts 'n bolts of car setup, here's a great resource: www.formula1-dictionary.net/set_up_mechanical.html. Note: the hypertext links throughout lead to additional in-depth discussion (not just a simple dictionary definition), so they're well worth checking out. Now, back to adjusting for that pesky understeer in that decreasing radius turn...

Has anyone experienced this:
I'm in the entry to pit lane, coming in for a tire change, and two cars pass right through me like ghosts to end up ahead of me as we actually hit pit lane. :-( Happened a couple times earlier, but I would have thought this would be fixed by now.
