Hey all, a friend and I would like to plan a trip to Germany at the beginning of summer 2013. We are both young college students. I myself have taken 2 years of high school German, and am currently on my 4th semester of German in college. My friend is in his second semester of German. I have always been fascinated with Germany, and I would love to make this trip and test my skills and have an experience that will last me the rest of my life. The problem is I have no idea where to start. Considering costs, I would like to focus my time in a specific region, such as Southern Germany or Northern Germany. I have never traveled before on a scale like this and have no idea what to expect. Would anybody be able to give us some good advice, and/or provide us with numbers of what we are to expect cost-wise and maybe provide us with some sort of itinerary? Any help would be much appreciated!

Can I suggest buying plane tickets and booking hotel/hostels for a week or two. That's all that's needed really.
I hear Munich is pretty nice. Don't travel in winter as its not as much fun unless you are at a ski resort.
Expect a lot of bratwurst an beer and the occasional terrorist attack.
