The American State Championship Tournament is a tournament that would involve players playing in a team and representing their state and competing each week against a team from another state in a season long tournament. Each match would be played over 36 holes and two courses, with all teammates scores being combined. The winning team would receive 10 points and in the event of a tie both teams would receive 5 points each. Once every team has played each other in the regular season then the teams with the most points will make the postseason and compete for the title.
I will have to wait to see what the level of interest is, and the numbers involved, before deciding on how many players will play in each team. It may only be 4 players or it could be 5 or 6. There is also the possibility of some states merging to represent an area, for example a Southwest area team, if there are only one or two players from any given state. On the other hand, we could end up with a lot of players from California, and this state could have two teams, a Northern Californian team and a Southern team. Lets see how it goes first and see what the breakdown is of states represented, and how many players we get from those states.
If you are interested in taking part then please post details of your real name, tour and the state that you wish to represent. Thanks.
