Good morning all! Hope everyone is well...
I thought that I should post this here to help spread mental health awareness and in the hope that it could well help somebody in these forums who suffer with mental health illnesses.
My girlfriend is a sufferer of borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety and OCD. A couple of weeks ago she was brave enough to tell her story and share it to YouTube and around social media.
It's had so many positive responses from comments, shares and private messages on Facebook to nearly 700 hits on YouTube, (and tears to people's eyes). I thought that posting the video here may well just help someone who is alone feel less alone. To help rid of the stigma that is given to mental health illnesses.
Her original story can be seen here:
She would really appreciate any social shares such as Facebook etc or a subscribe to her YouTube Channel.
Thank you in advance for any support you can give her and to mental health awareness.

Great video. Your girlfriend is very brave to share that! My ex-wife suffers from bipolar disorder so I know how hard mental illness can be on someone as well as people around them. After I watched that, I got up off the computer, put on shorts and a gym shirt and went for a run. Great motivation! I subscribed to her channel.

Your girlfriend is awesome.
I know I crack jokes on here all the time about my being nuts...but I literally DO have a mental illness. I've had serious clinical depression and a chemistry imbalance in my brain that's hampered me for most of my life. I finally broke and allowed doctors to put me on medication a few years ago and it's made a world of difference in my life. I've been a big advocate for people with mental illness speaking out and helping smash the stigma surrounding it. I've had people look down on me for my illness and I've really learned not to give a flying @!$# about them. It's an illness just like a cold, and when you're sick, you get help. Period.

Thank you for the kind words, she will truly appreciate it and I will pass this on to her when I see her. Before I met her, (2.5 years back), I never really gave mental illnesses a real thought, but as time has past I have learnt a lot with her and it's nothing to be ashamed about. There's a fantastic community of people out there and on this forum that can help get rid of the stigma. Thank you again for the kind words and if you ever want to speak to her, whether it be about your illness or anything related then feel free to message through the Facebook page: www.facebook.com/beautifulborderlinemeOr YouTube, or anywhere. It's all linked to each other so never difficult to find.

Martin, she's a very brave and beautiful young woman. I know you're very proud of her. She has beaten the illness once and I'm sure she'll beat it again.
I'll certainly be following her story on Facebook and wish you BOTH the very best of luck.

What a great video. Your girlfriend is very brave.
Many people don't know this since I'm always go around on these forums and post joke threads... But I struggle with MDD. I've had some form of depression since I was only 13, and I have to say this: Watch this video if you haven't already. It's great motivation, no matter if you have a mental illness or not. The one thing that angers me more than anything else is when people make fun of people with mental illnesses, no matter what the illness is. I remember losing my father was one of the worst parts of my life, because like her, I lost pretty much everything.
I came back home, and met my wife in college. Since then, life has been so much better, but I still have moments. When I'm on the forums at 1 in the morning, it's because my depression is troubling me. Posting on these threads and the shoutbox are how I cope with it.
Good luck to her. I know she can do it. Sooner than she'll know it, she'll be back to the way she was.

I find it tough to post on these subjects not because I can't relate because the thoughts going threw my head are......... What if everyone thinks I'm looking for attention What if people think less of me What if people become afraid of me What if my personality comes across as making a joke of the issue What if my i seem like I don't care What if it looks like I've an alternative motive What if .................. I can go on forever with my thoughts when I do anything in my life. As someone who has suffered from Manic Depression for just under half my life which is 14 years. To be fair I never think I'll be classed as been perfectly sane and stable if that even exists anyway! Basically I now try my best to only have 1 what if! What if I just be myself? And that's my main copping mechanism with all my subconscious "what ifs" I answer each one with my one "what if"! Sure we all have our bad days, some more than others, some worse than others but we can all break the walls down on Mental Illness just by been better educated on it. martkal44 thank you for starting this thread and best of luck to you GF no doubt she will succeed in getting to where she wants to be. Irving R. Levine Thank you for highlighting it on the podcast an sharing your story. And for all that has just read my heart felt waffle thank you for doing that and maybe it will give you insight to the man behind the Moe Syzlak Mask .

Your girl is a very strong and brave woman for doing that. She will undoubtedly motivate and inspire others. I wish her the best of luck on her journey and will do my best to follow her along.
Working in the mental health field for many years, I've seen all shapes and sizes of mental health (especially since I'm one to render a diagnosis). The thing about things like depression, anxiety, etc. are a spectrum. We all have it, it's just a matter of how much. For some, it's manageable while for others, it's debilitating.
Be kind, everyone is fighting a tough battle.

Right now, I truly can't thank everyone for the support you have given the video and Sian, (GF) is currently crying next to me because she's so overwhelmed, in an absolutely fantastic way.
We both listened to the podcast and taken back by your own stories and just the fact you even shared the story/forum thread on the podcast.
She always said to me that just helping one person to feel less alone then the video has accomplished its mission. She's done more than that and she is continuing to post her journey and videos to her YouTube channel.
If anybody wants to ever contact personally you can at support@beautifulborderlineme.com or through her YouTube, Facebook page etc etc

She was also very upset to hear about your own stories, as she knows the daily struggles.
She just wants everyone to find peace one day and hopefully together we can rid of the stigma.
