Home of the Wells Fargo Championship and the 2017 PGA Championship in Charlotte NC
I built this course several years ago in PGA2000.... Pretty close and accurate representation... I live close so I went to several Pro Am days, and to be honest instead of watching the golfers I walked this course and studied it...took hundreds of pictures and hope I can find those ha ha I put the actual grandstands from the course (took pics of everyone of them) on the PGA version, actual tee signs, all the tv towers and scoreboards, even some of the actual houses from the 7th tee and down right side of the fairway, by changing them to the proper format and putting the actual picture in the designer... Wished we could do that here, but ill work around that..... Its going to be a task, but I believe Im up for it.... Will go to work on it as soon as the Design contest is over... Looking forward to the challenge....

Nice! It was between this and Hazeltine when I was deciding what RCR to do after my three fictional courses. Glad I chose Hazeltine but this is a must have on the game.

Do you remember the version Pablo on PGA I built? Man I poured many of months and hours into that.... I hope I can translate that here, the global elevations is what will be the hardest for me to get right the local elevation work I got a pretty good grasp on that already.... I found that nice overhead pic in original post on their website...Wished that was a progress pic ha ha

I have vague memories of the course. Have not touched PGA for ages. I don't even own a PC for the last 4 years. But The memories speak of a very good course. Really looking forward to this Terry.

Yeah Tim that 17th and 18th are definitely the signature of the course... I will have to make dang sure I get that to look right.... 14th is my personal favorite and on the par three 13th a few years ago I was standing just left of the greensite opposite of the TV tower and heard FORE.... Ball bounced up and hit me in the leg.... Who hit that errant shot, Peyton Manning, who was playing with his brother Cooper and the receiver (Forgot his name).... A fellow next to me told Peyton that it hit his son, so he signed the ball and gave it to the kid... I never said a word about it not hitting the kid, because he was tickled to death.. Spoke to Peyton and went on my way... I was studying the green trying to see that collection area and just how deep it was on the right hand portion of it... Had no clue who was even in that group, nor did I care at that time ha ha It was easy on PGA2000 we could import DEM data which made the global elevations on the plots for you from the get go... Then it was just a matter of getting the local elevations down and knowing the greensites.. .I had extensive notes on the greens, on an old computer, I just hope I still have those... Like I stated, I even had pictures of every grandstand, every TV tower, and even houses that line especially 7 (Specifically the one behind the 7th tee) on my RCR in PGA.... I had some trouble with Ghost it last night not working as I intended, so I may take the CLV route in his great tutorial and start measuring everything out which will take me ages then begin.. Once I get the holes laid down Im usually pretty fast with elevations and such and will get it done but I don't plan on having anything ready for months.... Perhaps in time for the PGA 17 ha ha ha Love this course, have walked around it numerous times and studied it immensely, however that was several years ago and Im old and forgetful now Looking forward to the challenge...

You know the PGA Assistant Professional out at Quail Hollow (Tim Johnson) used to play on TGCTOURS :-) Not sure if he still does, but he could be a great resource!

So for a couple weeks I kept on trying to even get started... never got a thing to line up...I would laid down a hole then shot paths and my angles and distances weren't even close... so I finally downloaded google earth pro and finally after several trial and errors I got the first hole laid down with almost dead perfect distances.... I laid down the 18th first and got it pretty dang close even 486 to the pin and am beginning to lay the course out..... I am excited about building this course, I love it... Hope I can do it justice upon completion....google earth pro, Ghost it and boombooms help on messenger has finally gotten me started to where I am now comfortable with what I am trying to do
first step has begun
I changed the main texture to something very light to be able to see on Google Earth once ghosting it.... I have gotten the shapes very close but will tweak and line them up better once everything is laid out....
Wish me luck... No doubt Ill rage quit designing before its over.. HA HA HA....Anyone ever rage quit designing?
Anyway thanks for looking

Well I am an absolute idiot!!!!!
I had 1,2,3, 15,16,17 and 18 all laid out perfect yardage... Started on four then realized the horrible mistake I made... I started too high on the TGC plot and hole four ran off the available work space
Hours of work down the tubes.. .I flew into a cuss fit for a moment (not really) laughed at myself, and began again from scratch..... I guess I learned a little from first go around already have several holes laid ....
so its going to be a very slow process... Should be available for the wells fargo and or PGA championship next year... HA HA.....
Got the DVR set to record every days action beginning Thursday, so I can refresh my memory and see any changes since I was last there a couple years ago...
