Alright, I've got some constructive feedback for you. I won't talk about the first six holes as those are not done I can see.
The Good:
- The look: The boreal with pinestraw is a nice look, I can definitely see the Augusta similarities.
- The greens: Varied, with gentle slopes, nothing crazy...nice.
- Good hole design - Nothing wacky, just solid tee to green layouts.
Needs Work:
- The lighting: MY EYES! That midday sun with those bright white bunkers literally hurt my eyes. Consider lowering the light and playing with the shadows. You'd be surprised how much better you can make a course look with some nice lighting.
- Bunkers: way too many unnecessary ones (especially in the early holes) with very jagged edges and inconsistent sculpting. I would say these need the most work. They did get better overall as the course went on though.
- Planting: try to avoid planting the same tree bush that is the same size and the same rotation right next to each other. I saw quite a bit of this on the back nine with trees and flowers and it can be a bit distracting. Mix it up!
- Difficulty: Way too easy as is. Wide fairways, soft greens, and light rough instead of heavy rough everywhere. I would see a CC-E player having a fairly easy time with this one. I was able to throw darts at every single pin.
#7- not a huge fan of laying up with a 7-8 iron on my second shot on a par 5...at least give me a chance to get there in two, or at least close. Just my opinion here.
- Identity: This isn't a bad course at all...but to me it's just average. There is nothing that makes me want to play it again and I didn't really notice anything that made it stand out above the thousands of courses in the game. It's the little things that make a course go from average to great. Playing great courses and really paying attention to the small details will give you some ideas.
I know you are just starting out, and I think it's a very good effort from a new designer. It took me 10-15 horrific courses to finally figure out what I was doing. Much better than my first efforts. Right now, I would rate it a 6 out of 10. Still a ways off from tour consideration in my eyes, but in no way a bad course.
Hopefully some of these suggestions are helpful.
