Royce, Thanks for the due diligence. Perhaps I was so beat down by those greens, that when I got to 17, I had shrunk. Lol. Bill

Royce, Thanks for the due diligence. Perhaps I was so beat down by those greens, that when I got to 17, I had shrunk. Lol. Bill It's difficult to explain the severity of the greens unless you've been there, even on TV they look less severe than reality. My favorite is Phil's putt on 1 during the opening hole of the '04 Ryder Cup, left it short and it rolled so far back down the left hand ridge that you just have to laugh. I couldn't imagine playing South Course, good for you being able to experience it, I'm not sure I could even try if presented the opportunity..... If you could tell me the exact spot (or thereabouts) that Gary Player hit his shot into 16 I will place something there (maybe some shrooms like theclv used on his Merion to mark "the spot"), just wish I remembered this prior to publishing. www.golfchannel.com/media/golfing-world-gary-player-my-best-shot/Hard to tell from that video, and the lake has been expanded since.... Cheers, Royce

I honestly can't remember the exact spot, but it was in the right rough. The boys would hit it over there in n purpose to get a better angle at certain pin positions It was a very small marker, maybe a foot square. I am going to see if I can spot it on goggle.

I See something in the rough that could be it. Back in 1972 there were two big willow trees up by the lake that he had to hit nine iron to get over them. Eight was the right club for the distance, but he could not get an eight over the trees. Hence the "miracle" shot. Anyway, I can't give you an exact spot. Oh well.
