Superb work as ever. Every hole is spectacular and challenging in its own way
Shot a 59 i next to no wind but imagine it would be much tougher if it blew a little bit
Not sure it's quite tough enough to be chosen for the Open but should be an absolute cert for another high profile tour stop

Cheers fellas. Yeah low winds will expose most courses including this one... 59 is an immense score though. You may be right about toughness. But they are towards the easier side of pins, I'm fairly confident I could do a much harder setup.

WOW this course just oozes quality. Gave it a 10, I don't give anything a 10. Best links course I've played, deserves the Open Championship IMO. The course plays wonderfully. It's a real challenge but doesn't make you tear hair out like some. Some great innovation in hole design, excellent planting and the shelters made from wooden steps are a really nice touch. The best beach scenery I've seen, complimented by the lighting captures the feel of the coast on a summers evening. ( thought I was there ). Bunkering, streams and the pathways between the dunes are all perfectly done. Been struggling with my game lately finding it hard to generate the enthusiasm but this course held my attention and I came in with a 9 under eagling the last. Only trouble is just when I think my own designing is reaching a high standard I see something like this and think I may as well pack up . Seriously though great job, most enjoyable course I've played in a while.

I thought Icelandic Reach was excellent so keep them coming yourself, you certainly have reached a high standard

I Love Links Golf and in my view This is my Favourite and best course in the Game, only thing i dont like about it is that bunker on the par 5 7th or 8th in the landing area but the rest of the course is amazing,And comparing it to troon with Troon not having a par 4 over 420 yards on the front nine and a easy par 5,This course will be a much more of a challenge to TGC golfers than a RCR of troon 380 yard holes get destroyed in this game and troon has 3 on the first 3 holes,

I have been tempted to remove it but still undecided right now. It is slightly against what you'd see on a real links course, but unless you have the right wind (or are very confident skirting the edge if that bunker) it takes the driver out of your hands and likely makes it a 3 shot hole. I do agree with the point though Thought I'd also post that shot of yours I saw over on HB forums... interesting shot :

Hi, Pyates, Thanks for the thumbs up on Icelandic Reach. Got another course on the go at the moment, but it's a bit of a slow burner, may be a while yet till it's released.

Great course by the way!

Just so you know this is one of my true inspirations for what I want my courses to be like just played a few holes looked around and taught myself an entirely new bunkering and fairway style because of your great work these courses these great designers build can be tools to teach if you pay attention my hats off to you for your lesson even though you probably didn't intend to teach one.! Now if I could just figure out how to hold those greens of yours!!

Great course by the way! Looks like the ball gets plopped right next to the hole to me looking at this. There was a hole out on the wrong hole on a shared green over on the HB weekly top 5 video, but you don't see the outcome afterwards

You are right, not meant as a lesson, but I have gained loads of ideas and inspiration from other designers along the way so it's a great bonus to be able to help someone else out Tbh, I can't hold my greens most of the time (note I always prove to myself that it is possible to get close with a good shot, replicating that in a proper round is tough though)... I do rubbish in my own events. But I enjoy the challenge and style of play.

I have published a medium firmness version which has medium fast greens. It is a little more forgiving and makes for a more relaxing round but still with a challenge. I shot -9 but was -7 after 8 in virtually no wind so it bit back at me. I have been meaning to do It for a while but seeing as I was in there adding multi pins for web.com I thought I'd do this also. Find in game as 'Royal Brumby (Medium)' The tour setup if anyone fancies it: Royal Brumby - Web.com Thu Royal Brumby - Web.com Fri Royal Brumby - Web.com Sat Royal Brumby - Web.com Sun Day | Fairways | Green Firmness | Green Speed | Length | Thu | Max | Max | Max | 6953 | Fri | Max | Max | Max | 7205 | Sat | Max | Max | Max | 7010 | Sun | Max | Max | Max | 7503 |
