We cannot have a World Cup with the only countries taking part being USA, Canada, England. We also cannot have four or five different American or Canadian teams. As I explained at the beginning of this thread, there will be one big team of players from those countries maybe 15 or 20, or even more depending on the numbers that enter qualifying. After the group stage those countries will have to be reduced to just the best two players as you cannot have a team of 20 matching up against a country with just two players. It is proving very difficult to get even two players from countries with a small amount of players. Even Australia does not have as many players as I originally thought they had. There are 4 or 5 pages in the members list of Australian players, I went through every single one of them and there are surprisingly few of them actually actively playing the game, and even fewer than that active on this forum. It might surprise you to know that I have twice as many Irish players signed up as Australians. So if it is proving that difficult to get Australians signed up then you can only imagine the difficulties that I had getting a team from Brazil. I have been using goggle translate and sending messages in spanish, french, german and portugese over the past few weeks trying to see if those countries wanted to get involved. Many of them are not active on this forum and as most do not speak english it has been quite difficult. I would like at least 12 countries in the World Cup and maybe 16 if I can get them. As I said at the beginning, a World Cup should not just be about the big countries with loads of players. I am confident that the format I have will work and once the qualifying tournaments begin then things will start to take shape.

So far up to this page we have as follows:
England: 18 USA: 18 Ireland: 8 Canada: 8 Australia: 6 Sweden: 3 Holland: 2 Brazil: 2 Spain: 1 S Africa: 1 Scotland: 1 Japan: 1
So 12 countries so far and enough players to make 8 teams.

Ireland have 16 plus players. As I said in the above post only USA, England and Canada have more. So it will be no issue to have a group with the top 16 Irish, American, English and Canadians competing against one another. It is only the other countries with smaller numbers that will compete in teams of two in all other groups.

I think havin Ireland, England, USA & Canada in the same group will dilute the quality of the knockout stages...2 of them teams will be knocked out before the tourny even gets started...a bit harsh imo...
