PGA Field size bumped to 155 for rest of February Every PGA tournament there are 7-10 players that never tee off - they are now factored in to the max field to give a few more spots to active players. If you have emailed commish@tgctours.com prior requesting in you should be in now. Those of you that weren't allowed in the past few weeks - I apologize but while I tried to stand firm on our 144 field I also realize that you all want to play. This is the compromise I came up with - we should still have 144 active players plus the 7 - 10 that usually don't tee off each event due to unforeseen circumstances.
PGA promotions from Web Effective immediately - to earn a PGA Tour card on exemption you must be the top exempted player. If there is a tie all will earn a card (no tiebreakers). Web.com and Euro Tour both remain status quo (make the cut).
There will be an announcement shortly that should ease some of the max field issues on the PGA Tour. Until then (rest of February) we'll go with 155 as max field for that Tour.
Please do not leave registration to the last minute - there will be no more concessions on this tour.

This is a good solution. I'm sure people will appreciate the changes.
Edit - or maybe they won't. Seems people complain no matter what you do. Sad.

Don't worry, we've all come to expect every decision will have people for and against it. We just do what we think is the best for the tours and for those that think we don't listen to our members, well not much I can say to those folks!

Not crazy about different rules for earning your card on PGA vs Euro which are supposed to be equal tours. Seems a little bit of an artificial way to fill up the Euro Tour.
But otherwise the rest is good.
Also, since this is a temporary fix what is to come is the more important change.

Just wish it didn't happen right as I'm trying to make my way onto the PGA! I think you'll see a lot more people hoarding those web exemptions now if they feel like they won't be the top exemption player. Oh well, I've got 3 tries the next 3 weeks at it.

Either way, it makes complete sense as there will continue to be web.com guys trying to move up all the time and the PGA has tons of guys already. Thanks for the info.

You could just use your exemption on the EURO tour and try to get your card there... and then you can cross-over every week to the PGA if you are set on playing on the PGA.
PS, I might be out of touch, but how do you have 3 tries over the next 3 weeks? Don't exemptions expire after one week?

He could have been registering them out ahead of time. His first exemption was used for this week, his second was for next week, and his third will be used once Week 20 is is opened for registration. At least thats how I think it would be done.

At least thats how I think it would be done. That's exactly right. I earned one and I registered for the PGA event at Pebble (using the 1st one) and the Riviera event the following week (using the 2nd) then won the next week on the web (earning a 3rd) and registered for the Honda Classic after that. I played on Euro tour a little last year but I enjoy playing in the tournaments I know with a few real courses I"m familiar with sprinkled in here and there. If these 3 weeks go poorly my next exemption will be spent on the Euro.

For those of us that struggle to make the cut it becomes (that much harder). I liked it when you registered by the DEADLINE and thats it.

But otherwise the rest is good. Also, since this is a temporary fix what is to come is the more important change. It is not artificial. For whatever reason more people are wanting PGA (over Euro) when they graduate from Web. I think it may be a Sweeney, Garcia factor or a North America play what you know bias.
