It's a nightmare - whoever rated it as an easy course wants his arse kicking. I've got a 56 at Magnolia,a fast course but a fair one - this course I found far more difficult. Bone hard greens like glass,I found it hard going. 65,69,69,and a wonderful 73 to put the tin hat on it. My new lucky cap is on the fire again. LOL! I think the "difficult" rating is dynamic. If everyone's averaging under par, it will rate it as easy or very easy. That's the way I always assumed it worked. Might I suggest the all new and extended system. Easiest. Easy. Medium. Hard. Hardest. Too bloody hard. Far too bloody hard. Are you serious? The designer should be taken out and shot, hanged, drawn and quartered, drowned (just to make sure) buried in a shallow grave, dug up,and forced to watch 'The X Factor'.

Never been much of a forum reader or poster, but having had no adsl line for 10 days a week or 2 ago my only contact with this game was reading the forums via my phone. Seems like a funny bunch of weird peeps around, prompted me to take stock and i suppose i'm going to try and do my bit and post once in a while too.
Noticed someone mentioned something about firm and fast in last weeks tourney topic and the need for a chipper type of round. Also read somewhere many moons ago peeps talking about dropping 7 out of 8 chips in general and thought, gosh, i must be the missing link to the 7 out of 8 ratio as i'm happy with dropping 1 out of 8.
Anyways, on to the tourney - expected to get creamed this week and did not take a sighter round and just went straight out onto the course. Started with 2 birds - which included a chip in on the 2nd, yay. Followed with a copy and paste for the following 3 holes - approach runs through green, birdie chip grazes hole, miss the return par putt, pffft 1 over after 5. Needed something to get going again, found myself in fringe/rough on the 6th above the hole, green running away like crazy downhill, thinking if i miss this its gonna be full pw back to the hole. Was thinking, chip soft short, hope it stops dribbling in makeable putt range, or just go for it. Choice was easy, whacked it full distance. Ball clattered into pin, another bird.
I guess that chip-in was a watershed moment for me, just played normally for rest of the round, clawed score back to a 65.
Round 2 was over in a flash, bogey free, highlight was back to back chip and flop in eagles on back 9, signed for a 61.
18 under after 2, I hope this will be enough to make cut as hot chippers will maybe kill this course.
Good luck for the tourney guys and gals, have fun!

Its to hard!
It's to soft
Lads your not testing out beds in the 3 bears house ffs.
It's the same for everyone and a different test just get on with it and if the conditions don't suit you the correct response is "that course didn't suit me I hope next week is different "
Which it is btw!

If we don't talk about the course, then what is the point of this thread? I dont think anyone really bashed the course just pointed out where it was giving them issues (unless crazy croc did, i dont read long posts). The course layout is stunning, by the way. Once you get past those ridiculously stupid greens (see what i did there), it is absolutely beautiful.

I loved the first two rounds. Tricky but I preferred it. I left a few out there as I always do but I'm -12 thru 2 rounds and even if I miss the cut, I'm happy with how I played.
I don't think I quite belong up here on the web so grinding out 2 decent rounds on this course is something I'm super pleased with.
No complaints about the course, only one thing that bugged me....the wind on the first hole was just strong enough that on your second shot you either hit rough or have to lay up with a short iron meaning your third shot is a 190 yard+ shot into the green. Still..... Same for everyone, I'll nervously bite my nails over the next few days and hope this is not me being cut for the FOURTH week in row.
Play well guys!

Just shot 60 for the first round and that's me done now til Thursday. I'm joining the watching and lurkers for the first time ever so I know what the cut line is plus i haven't practised any of the other 3 rounds Wow 60 is really good round on this course setup, just wondering how many chip ins did you have in that. I played a couple of rounds in gavlaars practice and I think I made more birdies from chip ins than putts, the greens are not designed for firm conditions that's for sure as the ball seems to roll through no matter where you land it.

Never seen chips act like this on any course before. I should have practiced I guess. Unique challenge this week. Reminds me of the old Q-school desert course. Frustrating but a nice change of pace. Pretty poor rounds for me to start, -6 & -4. Good luck everyone

Round 3 was a little silly. 200 yard shots into many pins 4 yards off the fringe.
Okay, I'm done b%&ing now.

Too much thinking going on in rounds 1 & 2, my brain couldn't handle 3 & 4. Once the wind was blowing steady at 15, my math went to crap ?

Round 1 66, round 2 65. Pretty pedestrian. As usual I couldn't putt to make one when I was at a decent distance. The ghosts were chipping everything in. I was laying mine up on the lip. Brutal. Tough course, -13 under probably not good enough.
