This is the type of feedback I will appreciate when my reign of terror kicks off! But with Feb done and March done by end of week the horse may be across 12 fields by now. Wow, didn't realize we were that far ahead of schedule! I don't always get a chance to play all four pin sets but I will make it a point to ask for the green speeds of I don't see them postes in rangering threads. My plan is courses will be released a month in advance. End dec I selected Feb End of Jan I'll have March boxed off So there's 4-5 weeks notice Allows the designers plenty of time for multipins and incase my non tgc life gets mental. That's the plan anyway

I shot a -10 and -11. Not convinced that will be enough for the cut as I missed a bucket load of birdies putts.

Hi Highest cut we have had this season was -22 in Bunyip.
Are we looking at a record breaker here !!! if so I might be the first player to get cut with a 58 on my card.
I'll say one thing I would hate to be a Watcher looking at this knowing you needed 25+ birdies to be safe.

What's more frightening than a first round on the web? A second round on the web. I have a rough idea what I need to make the cut and I am going to pretty much need a flawless second round. Am I capable of a round like that, yes I am, it does not happen to often but it can be done. It does mean changing my natural game a little. I normally play a risk reward game, sometimes it works, more often it does not. I could get away with it a little on the cc, but today it might not be the best way to play. Can I hold back from the risky shot? Let's find out.
I had a eighty six yard slightly up hill approach on the first, the sort of pitch shot I love, the sort of shot I am good at. I switch to pitch and took my shot, it did not get close to the hole, in fact it did not get close to the green. I looked on in shock as the ball traveled forty five yards. Someone switched clubs on me, oh what a sneaky trick to try stop me earning my card, a setback on the first hole, long way to go yet. I got my scoring underway on the second after checking all my clubs carefully, I am not going to fall for that again. I could not help it, after saying no risks, I went for the green in one on the third, a silly shot really, I nearly made it, just a couple of feet short. I was left with the perfect flop distance though, landed it a couple of feet behind the hole and it spun back nicely for eagle. The fourth brought another of my favourite type of shot, long iron into a headwind, I left it two feet short and a tap in birdie. I went five under on the fifth before again I went for the green in one on six, a lot shorter this which I expected. Instead of a flop, I went for a heavily lofted pitch, it stopped inches from the hole, so close to eagle number two, took the tap in and moved on. I tried to be to clever on seven using draw and loft, left myself with a impossible downhill breaking eagle putt, lagged close for birdie. The eight brought the type of shot I had the most, anything around a hundred and ten yards can be a nightmare for me. I missed the green but not by much, I putted from the fringe, a short putt that thankfully dropped. I finished the front nine with another good approach and another tap in. A great front nine, except for that stupid mistake on the first.
I have never played the back nine on the Friday pins, so this all new to me. I don't need to go crazy here, just pick up shots when chances come my way. A very poor eagle putt on ten left me twenty feet or so short of the cup, I have not idea what happened there, maybe a little bit of glue was left on the green to slow down my putt. So I said to myself, if the ball is sticking to the green, just hammer the birdie putt as hard as possible, so I did and shocked myself when it dropped, a good start to the back nine. The eleventh brought that horrible distance again and as usual I did not land the ball as close as I would have liked, a twelve foot putt but it was pretty much straight, birdie. Everything most end at some stage and after birdie on twelve, my scoring streak finished on thirteen, me tee shot was not great, I came damn close to sinking the long putt but it was just a par. The horrible distance reared its ugly head again on fourteen but this time I got it right, I played against the wind this time and left the ball two feet from the cup. It should have been birdie on fifteen, four foot putt and I missed, can't figure that one out at all, a terrible putt that I hope will not come back to haunt me. A par on sixteen and the nerves were starting to show, not a gimme but a putt that could have been made. Three pars in a row now, the calmness I felt earlier in the round was gone, I was forcing my shots to much, thankfully just one more to play. I reached deep into myself to bring focus and concentration back for one last time, my approach stopped one foot from the cup for what might be the most important birdie of the round, fourteen under.
Now I wait, twenty four under after two, is that enough for my card? time will tell. No matter what, I played well. My biggest fear was making a fool of myself and while I did that on a couple of holes, I am proud of the way I played. I gave it everything when it would have been easier to go back to the cc which I still think is my true level. Nothing more I can do now. Rest day for me tomorrow before I play round three. I'll play all my rounds, cut or not cut, just for the experience. Have fun all.

I would say yes that is plenty enough for your web card and as an ex CC player I feel you should raise your bar as for expectations go or maybe I should lower mine

I'm sure that will be enough hmammoth Well played. You deserve your card on web I was reading that and for the first time didn't know if I wanted you to do well or not. I wanted you to make web but didn't want you to beat me and that was never going to happen after my two rounds. Let the battle commence.

I totally agree Dan's posts are humorous and well written, however he has a hidden agenda which involves donning a pair of green white and orange speedos and becoming a bonafide member of the web.com "budgie smugglers club" LOL

I'm sure that will be enough Dan. I will try to jinx it by saying congratulations. Seems as if CC just lost one of its more valued members. Here on Web no one likes you But seriously. Congratulations. I hate you.
