voted yes, & if not the exemptions should be passed down. maybe a 5 shot penalty on web tours for those who don't take the exemptions

I will be given an exemption for the PGA this week. I have already played the first two round and know I will not make the cut and earn my card. Since the exemption is currently optional, it would be all to easy to just skip it and play in this weeks WEB tournament. This seems to be a compelling reason for the exemption to be mandatory as I have zero incentive to use it at the moment. I had not thought about this before winning and was already for mandatory enforcement. Seems rather silly to provide an easy escape hatch for Web players, but maybe I am missing something. What does everyone else think?

What does everyone else think? I think it comes down to the honor system. If you've already logged your minutes playing the PGA's first 2 rounds, then you should probably enter the scores. I've read that they look at the API to see if anyone is abusing the late registration system in place for PGA / Euro. I would assume that they would do the same for exemptions earned on Web.com.

I agree but the rules are the rules and none would be broken under the current system. I (any player) could just say we were practicing and if the implication is that it's wrong then the rules need to change. Just another reason to make the exemption mandatory IMO

I will be posting my scores for this week on the PGA bcs it's the right thing to do. I doubt some others would do the same. Change this nonsensical rule of optional exemptions. DO IT!

Just another reason to make the exemption mandatory IMO You're completely right about that. There needs to be something explicitly stated that prevents players from doing exactly as you described. In my 2 failed exemption attempts, I made sure to register for the the PGA / Euro event before playing any of the PGA / Euro / Web.com tournaments so that it would be no question that I was going for the exemption. Not everyone will be so scrupulous though, and so I think if they don't end up making exemptions mandatory, at least they can state that your play will be suspended for a few weeks if you: 1) Play the PGA and/or Euro first 2 rounds once they go live and 2) Decide not to register and use your exemption because you don't think your score will best the cut line and then 3) Register and play in Web.com. That being said, were your PGA scores that bad? I played the PGA tournament for fun and I will be surprised if the cut line makes it to -10. It was a tough course.

Shot -4 total for the first 2 rounds. Very difficult. I played semi-ok actually. I hope to get another shot relatively soon.
