Back over at Uni so i'm playing on a smaller screen... I think it actually helps, no idea why. Much more comfortable this week but some horror putts (Anyone playing with my ghost pls dont look at the 2nd par 3 in Rd 1 or Hole 15 Rd 4 (4 shots thrown away like nothing I have ever done before...). Scored not too bad, sitting joint second on the PS4 leaderboard as of now (4 shots behind the leader funnily enough). Winds are low so go and attack, might shave into the top 10, who knows Good luck!

Joining you guys this week on exemption from B after rapid promotion from C following Yuchi Valley a few weeks ago. I had a lacklustre 1st round but carded a tournament PB (for me) of 58 for the 2nd round. Trying not to get carried away but would desperately love to stay in A on the first attempt. Good luck everybody!

I think I took my frustrations from the stupid Vikings game and put in a couple solid rounds.

I think I took my frustrations from the stupid Vikings game and put in a couple solid rounds. Hey Josh - you're currently sitting atop the leaderboard - well done. I'm just puzzled why I can't see your PS4 handle (josh1982) on the PS4 leaderboard in game? EDIT - Jeez you're dumb. It's because he hasn't completed all four rounds yet dummy!

My first round as a official cc-a player in a long time. I am not to worried about where I finish this week. The last couple of events were tough going at times where concentration was needed at all times. This week, I am going to relax and have some fun, so here it goes, round one. Par on the first, a decent approach shot left me with a make able birdie putt, I read the break wrong and the putt slid by and that's pretty much how it went over the next few holes. I was messing around a little, trying a few different options with loft and deloft, maybe a tour round not the place to experiment but what the hell. I picked up my first shot on the fifth, it was a while coming and was a good one when it did, tap in birdie. My next birdie was also a tap in on the seventh, a little bit more roll on my approach and it would have been eagle, alas it was not to be. My third tap in birdie came on the ninth, three under for the front nine. I could easily have been two or three shots better with a little bit more focus but happy with that. When I got my approaches right they were spot on, so while the score could be better, I am learning a little with different approach shots and that's good.
The back nine started with a birdie, another short birdie putt. I have not sunk anything longer than six feet yet but I do think the key to a good round is getting that ball close and I have been doing that over the last few holes and that was pleasing. Tap in number four on eleven but that was a easy par four, with a short pitch or flop as the second shot, anything less would have been poor. I went back to experiment mode on thirteen, playing a heavily delofted club I would not normally play, was happy to see it go close, six under. Two more birdies followed but one of them had a stroke of good fortune, I was so close to going in the water on fifteen, this time I was messing with the draw shot and while the line was good, I never adjusted for distance, a lucky bounce gave me another tap in. I played a iron of the tee on sixteen, it's something I have in my head that I play longer approaches better than short ones and should deliberately play shorter tee shots. The problem is, when in a tour round normally, I am so focused on getting the ball to the green, I don't always look at the different options of getting it there. It worked out for me this time, yes you guessed it, tap in birdie. Par on seventeen after a terrible tee shot before picking up my last birdie of the day on eighteen, but guess what, it was not a tap in. The first putt over ten feet that dropped in the entire round. Ten under, far better than I expected.
I have to say, that's a fabulous golf course from start to finish. There's all sorts of shots to be played out there. I am very happy with my round, a poor start but a great back nine with some birdies coming unexpectedly. Happiest of all with a lot of my approaches, putting them so close takes the putting pressures away. Of course these greens were receptive so that did help but I still think I did well. Have fun everyone.

I had a mini puttin crisis while playing last night, I think I got it sorted during my last round of the night but got to see if it affects me today, so here we go. It seemed OK on the first couple of holes, a medium length putt on the first just missed and a short putt on the second dropped, let's hope I can keep it up. I was missing putts from four feet last night. A second birdie on the third and an improvement over yesterday's start. A eagle putt on four came to within inches of dropping so I think my putting ok now. The birdie streak ended on the fifth but I played very safe, when teeing up I had visions of hitting the water so deliberately went longer than I normally would, there was still a half chance but I was not surprised it missed. I am still in shock that I played so safe though. Then again, as well as my putting issues last night, I went in the water five times from taking risks! Since there was not water on the sixth, I decided to flirt a little bit with bunker danger, it worked out, four under. There's something wrong, on the eight I did not play driver from the tee, I played ultra conservatively off the tee, this is not like me at all, in my mind I am seeing all sorts of disasters from tee shots, like I am hallucinating or something, could my water bottle have been spiked, I am closer to the web.com than ever before, I am sure those boys are worried about that. If so, its backfiring, five under. That's how I finished the front nine, very steady play, took all chances that came my way, with safe pars on the rest. A quick drink before the back nine.
Again I played super safe with just a iron shot, I had no choice really, when a leprechaun riding a pink and purple unicorn tells you going three wood would mean a disaster of epic proportions you listen. I think maybe time to lose this water bottle, birdie number six, quickly followed by birdie number seven. I am getting tired of this, sand worms from the Dune books had me frightened to take a risk on twelve, so played long to be safe, no chance of a birdie this time but I did leave the water bottle at the side of the green, to any one not played yet, do not drink from it. Time for me to stop this conservative play. I went pin seeking on thirteen, that's more like me, nearly holed out as well, tap in birdie though to go eight under. I tried something different on fourteen, a three wood played very low in the hope it would drop way short and roll right to the hole. It rolled a lot further than I thought it would leaving me with a horrible down hill forty foot putt, I left that about eight feet from the hole and a tricky birdie putt, it crept in. Maybe I should go back for that water bottle and safe play. A good par was followed by a good birdie, two to play, just needed to see it home now. I missed my first fairway of the day on seventeen, which lead me to missing the green. I did not miss the chip in though, eleven under. The last brought one of my favourite shots of the game, a long iron into a head wind. It's a shot I tend to play well and this was no exception, a easy birdie and twelve under par.
To be honest, I don't think I could have played any better today. I took every chance that came my way, sure I played a little safe from time to time but that resulted in either birdie or good pars on holes I could have messed up, very happy with my game today. On a side note, it was only today I noticed the designer of this course is the same designer of what is possibly my favourite course of all time PGA West Palmer. Last night I played the updated version, it's where I cured my putting issues. Stunning course, go play if you get the chance. Anyway, I have been promised a trip to the pub and a pink and purple unicorn, have fun guys.

Right there with you at -22 after two rounds Dan, although I'm sorry to say my last two weren't quite up to the same standard. Still I finished -38 in my first attempt at CC-A and whilst there is still a way to go, I am quietly confident about earning my card.

38 under is a nice score and will hopefully get you to keep your card. I don't expect things to go as well over the next two rounds. I am going to try my best but law of averages is bound to bite at some stage. Still, going to have some fun trying.

The winds don't pick up to bad over the last 2 rounds if I remember correctly. Maybe a little more during the 4th?

I think one of the rounds starts quite high then drops off. Or was that the practice tour I played? Hard to remember in the thrill of the chase!
