I have to agree both points to an extent. But the way this game is made it is to easy to play realitic courses with normal firmnes, on the other hand its not as enjoyable on some of the tougher courses because of stupid pins on concrete greens. But if we want scores more true to real life then we have to play them. The best thing about the tours on tgc is they have a mixture of all, so the best players over a season have to be able to play all conditions. I am probably starting to swing towards normal courses with realistic scores now as personally i can lose interest with hitting my 3rd shots from the fringe all the time. At the same time smurf i dont think you should give up, grind it out mate. I love playin tough courses....some of the best courses in the game are tough. I hate the tricked up gimmicky courses with concrete greens and ridiculous pins...im sick of these courses. Had we had a mixture of course types id be more inclined to deal with it but at the min iv lost interest them. Iv a tough schedule at the min with my last year of college and other stuff at home. When i play TGC i want to be able to relax and enjoy it. Not go through an ordeal and play these silly courses. If i had more spare time id do it but i havn got the will to play it at the min and i dont want to hold the end of this tourny up as its gone on long enough. Im happy to pull out and let Rick advance.

Hey man its all fine by me, its a game. thats the beauty, if you dislike what you are doing, just stop doing it. under no circumstance are you obligated to do anything here.
My goal at the start and going forward is to pick courses that are on the difficult side that are maybe less played and shed some light on some courses. are they all going to be gems? of course not im not trying to make it unenjoyable for players but to have more reasonable scores and a somewhat tense round, not a sunday golf round with grandma.
As we all know there's a very thin line between difficult and unfair. in order to prevent 56's you pretty much have to have a course with firm(er) greens. thats really all there is to it. but this course in particular had pretty large greens with accessible pin positions.
The greens last week on the PGA tour were the size of a parking space and everyone praised how much of a challenge that was with pins 3 feet from the fringe

The idea of picking obscure and difficult courses is an admirable one but if a course plays hard and has a low rating (6.5 or lower) i think theres a fair chance its not a good course. There are plenty of tough courses that are gud aswel but 99% of them are well known. Cuyahoga pins were tough but the greens were soft-meduim in firmness which made them holdable.

Going to be honest i did not expect my old buddy Tom to have 1 of his occasional bad rounds, what happened m8? But luckily for myself my 66 (-6), was enough to make the final, for the second time, hopefully i can change the outcome this time around. Wp Tom.

Then a horrible bounce from the fairway left me with 180yrds over a lake from light rough. Instead of making sure i get over and save par i got greedy took a borderline club and went in the water for a double bogey. Then sulked like a little girl for the rest of the round and got what i deserved. I need to learn when you get a bit of bad fortune just get an ugly par and carry on. Good luck to both of you in the final. Well played andi
