Here's what I've experienced (similar)
Hole 1: 1st shot 5mph 2nd shot 7mph 3rd shot 8mph 4th shot 10mph
Hole 2 1st shot 12mph 2nd shot 9mph 3rd shot 8mph 4th shot 11mph
Each of those base mph can go +-2 max (not 100% sure on this but what I've experienced so far) while waiting - you can wait until you're blue in the face but a 11mph will not drop to a 2mph (from what I've experienced)
Those changes in winds are similar for all the ghost balls - ie on Hole 1 we all end up in same area after drive as well as on Hole 2 despite the big difference in wind.
Those seeing 18mph winds while others are seeing 2mph are likely not getting detailed info on when the 2mph showed up in their rounds or are still playing on the old wind system (ie took a drive on the 1st hole, quit and are returning to play post patch - the wind changes won't take affect until a new round is started)

Still need to confirm this cross system but 18mph winds are no where to be seen in the 8 or so tourney rounds I've played - so those saying they are getting 18mph while others are getting 2mph - I have to believe they are still playing their last round on the old wind system. Once they start a fresh round I think cross system will match up.

Doyley is 100% correct
If it's 16mph on the first tee, you can hit your shot in 0.3 seconds or wait 3 hours, it's not going any lower than 14 or higher than 18/19.
And no matter how long you take to complete the hole, it resets to the same number for all once you get to the next tee and the whole thing starts again.
Zero advantage to be gained waiting

Just did a test and it was only +/- 1mph in the 90 minutes with a 12mph wind. (i recorded it, did not watch it for 90 min!)

It is set to a certain speed/direction range for each shot (ex: 12-14 MPH, NW). You can wait until you are blue in the face on a given shot, but it won't change beyond that fairly tight range.

Anytime you have a patch come out, PC will always be first. If a tournament is created after the PC patch and before the Xbox/PS4 patch there is the potential for different winds. It is unfortunate but it happens. It isn't HB's fault as they can't determine the exact date that Sony/Microsoft will push out the updates. Because of this, there will be times that the PC users will have an advantage and other times that Xbox/PS4 will have an advantage of lower winds. Suck it up !
HB doesn't model their decisions based on our tournaments, if they did, they would have waited until after the final events of our season to release their patches.

That doesn sound too bad. As long as its the same for everyone. Doesn't sound too bad? It's almost best case scenario in my opinion - I put the wind up there with the putting (mouse users currently excluded) as one of the best features in the game now. Pretty sure they will only need to make a minor tweak at most now but mabye not either - will have to see how winds play out over multiple events. Either way, I'm much more happy with this than any previous wind formula they've had. Double excited for the True Sim Tour as well as this wind will be a lot of fun to play in.

Il reserve my actual judgement until il play myself later on 2nite. By all accounts it sounds good. All i want is the same opportunities as everyone else. If i get that il be happy wit it.

I hope this works it sounds very promising. If same as ghost balls does that mean it will be same for all players? What about if you load up with no ghost balls? Is it same criteria for cross platform to be the same?

I agree, Doyley, this is a nice change for the good. Slowly they are getting things right.

I love the new wind patch...it adds a little variation but not enough for a competitive advantage or to game the system. This is the best wind fix yet in my opinion.

Unfortunetly the squirts have gotten worse since the update (on ps4 anyways). Disapointing.

Agreed that I do like the wind update, but it's pretty unfortunate it came in the middle of the tournament. My winds were 18-19 mph in round 3 and 12-13 in round 2 I believe. From what I saw after the update, the wind is under 10 mph around 6-7 for most of the round with a few spikes barely over 10. Nothing we can do about it though.
