I thought I was doing fairly well to shoot a +7, +7, and then a +3 - but then I killed it in Round 4 at Shawnee Creek with a +24. That course can be brutal. However, that said, I shot a lot better than I thought I was going to. +51 might not be a good score really (comparatively), but I was expecting to do a lot worse. Really looking forward to getting started now. I was shooting Easy courses before I joined TGC Tours, and shooting Q-School made me realize how much more critically I needed to practice and plan my shots. It's already made a difference in my game - not much as yet, but it's getting there. +7 at Dunholme is certainly nothing to be ashamed of, that one chewed me up and spat me out in Q-School, I still find it a difficult course over a year later! Good luck when you get started for real

I have my last round this morning. I played all 6 rounds as practice to see how much I would improve. Looking like 25 strokes over the 6 if I don't totally lose it that last round.
I did notice last night that playing on a flat green I really do have a touch when I'm not 15 feet and 12 inches down putting. I wish I could register for NEXT week.

70 (-2) for my first round! Pretty good, well played! If you do the same at Dunholme I'll be a lot more impressed!

and... followed it up with an 87 (+15) !!!
i was actually playing fine - around even - and 8-putted a hole (i think the 7th?) with bizarre a bizarre trick green...
then i was red-lining for about 6 holes and made a mess of my score before recovering slightly at the end.
ugh.

I shot 87 at Dunholme in Q-School too! That course is a b%&, I still find it hard now! I think I ended up +25 over the six courses. That was just over a year ago, started life in CC-E, now in the European Tour and have enjoyed every minute! Just get through it and get started on Tour, that's where the fun starts Edit: actually there might have been some minutes I didn't enjoy so much, but you get the idea.

There are many minutes I did not enjoy Q-school LOL MANY! But it's a great teaching tool to get you over that first hump. Taught me to concentrate all 18 holes. I wish I would have remembered that in my 1st "E" tourney.

i very excitedly just finished up a 67 (-5) at Wildfire Ridge!
that has me at +8 thru three rounds of Q-school - but i've read some scary things about the next course (shawnee) - i'll try not to let it get into my head!

72 (+2) at Shawnee, followed that up with a 70 (-2) at Denali.
Final round I played today - a tough (for me) TGC Players Club - Stadium where I bogeyed the 18th to finish with a 73 (+2) - but i can't really complain because I hit 3 putts that were insane, so it could have been a bit worse...
That's a +10 for q-school - wish I could get that +15 at Dunholme back, but that's life!
see you out there!

Isn't that right, Jacob? 87s can be scary when they first happen, but as long as you don't change your account name to Octokontaheptaphobia, you'll be fine... if you need counseling in this rough time, feel free to stop by Kessler's school of getting over 87s. Also, don't tell them not to mention you in the podcast- they will: Go to about 4:39 into episode 30In all seriousness though, it's not a big deal. I had that rough week. I was on an exemption to CC-D, when out of nowhere, boom! 87. What happened next week? I played great, earning another exemption to CC-D (which I wasted because $&#% Oakmont!). Anyway, those q-school courses are some of the hardest there are. Good luck on your journey- definitely stop by the challenge circuit board when you play on tour- say hi on either CC-Z or CC-E (I have a feeling I'll be coming back home next week).

Oh man...Oakmont brings back horrible memories... almost as bad a nightmare as Ecliptic Bay, or whatever it's called. I got massacred there. Threw my whole club bag into the lake.

At least it wasn't McGillycuddy's perch. The winds in round one caused that to be the only event I've ever played where I started but didn't finish.

I did all 6 rounds yesterday. Yeah that was rough. My goal was to get into CC-D. I was at + 11 through the first 3 courses so thought I still had a shot at that. Then it all blew up. I had a +15 at Shawnee Creek, a decent +2 at Denali, but then another + 15 on the last one. I finished at +43. See you all out there on the CC-E tour. I missed the deadline for this week's tournament. Is late registration usually available or do they fill up? I really want to get started.
