HI Guys- I am having some trouble with the designer and getting flat surfaces correct. I am using the PC version, and the flatten tool seems twitchy- what I want to do is take an area and make it all level, like a tee box area (with several in it). Any tips for using this tool that I can't seem to get to work properly?

ADDITION: What I really would like to know how to do is to just set a completely flat surface at a pretty low elevation (else the bridges won't work- you have to lower too far to the water) so that water surfaces are easy and natural looking. I am making a course with a lake in the center and several feeder streams. It seems easier to me to raise elevation areas when I need them, but so far, this designer in terms of terrain is seeming clunky and hard to work with.

Idk if this helps but you can take any of the brushes and make them as large as you can (probably the square one works best) and then flatten the entire plot at a height just above the water. I've found when you make the brush that large it doesn't flatten perfectly level and has a little mounding but still gets a large area to be "flattened". Hope that makes sense/helps!

for super flat you will need to flatten multiple times - especially if there is significant elevation changes.

Jeff Be careful with the red brushes. They don't work too well after you start laying down your holes. Just stick with blue brushes.

I am going to try and flatten before laying holes and see how I get on. I don't mind some bumps and such, but just want a generally flat tableau to start from.

If you want a totally flat course you have to put one hole on the course usually in the corner. If you start with the red brush and flatten with the sharp square, you will have some small bumps.

Out of curiosity, how does having a hole change the way the brushes work? And if this is a good method, can you go back and delete the hole once things are flat?

Since red/blue brushes were mentioned, how do I change between the two. I am on XB1 and last night I for the life of me could not find blue brushes. All of my options were red. Any suggestions?

If I'm not mistaken, that's the goal of laying down a hole. Once you have it, with the cursor over any of it's textures you will see under sculpt menu the blue brushes

So I need to lay down hole #1, at least tee-box and green points, then flatten, then go on to actually constructing the first hole and onward.

So I found the red brush- you get it by going into Terrain, not from editing holes. New problem: I laid down a clubhouse, cart shed and parking lot, but they are floating! How do you level under the objects to avoid this? I have to say, I am finding this course designer a bit underwhelming as far as ease of use goes.

start watching the "Video Diary of a Madman" about 20 hours of video thus far, and still haven't even finished one hole ...
Lots of stuff you can visually see being done. And, by the time I finish this course ... you will be well armed with knowledge. (probably ready to shoot me way before completion).

I really want to get this working as there are several real-life courses that I want to create with it eventually.
