What the hell is that all about? They release a game and within a week announce the servers will only be up for a couple of years? No thanks.

I’m not too bothered about the servers as online gaming annoys me a bit these days. Whats the career mode like? Career mode is actually a bit more immersive than what PGA 2K23 offers. Each month in the career, you get to do up to 3 tasks: do training, do a special event, and play in a tournament. Trainings help you level up, special events allow you to unlock gear, courts, and other items, and tournaments are where you obviously try to go out and win events to improve your world ranking. You start in low-level events and have to work your way up to getting into the Grand Slam events and other licensed tournaments. The career also includes coaches, who can help you with certain attribute boosts and such. There are also fittings, too, that seem similar to what's in PGA 2K23. I have not unlocked any yet, so I'm not 100% sure how they work. The one big difference between career in PGA and TopSpin is that TopSpin has a energy/injury system, where your player loses energy when playing in tournaments, but also when travelling from one place to another. So when your player goes from Japan to Italy from one event to the next, you lose some energy due to the long flight (the longer the distance, the more energy you lose). If you start a match under 35% energy, you run the risk of getting a minor injury. You can play thru minor injuries, but you then run the risk of getting a more serious injury, which could keep you out of action for several months. Choosing to rest for a month when tired helps heal your injuries and helps increase your energy. And as you progress thru the mode, it sounds like you can buy houses in a variety of cities to make travel less difficult and cost less energy. The negatives for TopSpin's career are that, like in PGA, it requires you to be online all the time to play it. The servers have been really lousy in the first few days since launch, so it's been hard to even play it. Also, career seems to be a huge grind...XP is earned extremely slowly, so you level up very slowly, too. It's clear they want players to get sick of the grind and cave into buying their XP boosts and VC that can be purchased with real money, bypassing the many, many matches it will take to get your MyPlayer up to the level of being any good.

I've never created an account with 2K. I tried Saturday after the servers were up and was denied. I uninstalled game out of anger. Why do you need to create an acct to play a game you've purchased without knowledge of this. Absolute BS I couldn't create acct. All you can do is training. May go back to it at some point. 2K's business practice is busch league at best.

They're offering some VC as compensation for the server downtime this weekend...use locker code MAKEARACKET for 450 VC.

I think they made a mistake developing this for last gen consoles. I've watched a few YT videos and the game looks just marginally better but I prefer the sound of the ball hitting the racket in TS4. 25 sounds like they are hitting a sponge ball.

What on earth?! 😆 How are you finding the game? I’m really fighting the urge to buy this. Is the online gameplay balanced pretty well? Used to be very partial to a bit of virtua tennis back in the day

Used to be very partial to a bit of virtua tennis back in the day I have not played a lot online to this point...really immersed in the game's career mode, and I want to level up my created player to use in the online mode where they are used. I will say, the online I have played with the actual Pros has been fun. The only thing I noticed is that most people use Maria Sharapova online, since she seems pretty overpowered in the game.

Thanks. I’ll have a cigarette and think it over lol and the deluxe mode stuff, I’m assuming that’s just boosts for xp and stuff and not strictly necessary? £105 is a bit rich for my blood.

I just got the standard version off the shelf at a local store. Actually came with a card that had a code for the "Under the Lights" pack, which had some extra clothes and the night-time majors included. The Deluxe edition comes with that "Under the Lights" pack, plus: New Wave Pack
Carlos Alcaraz Alt Outfit Iga Swiatek Alt Outfit Francis Tiafoe Alt Outfit New Wave Glasses New Wave Top New Wave Bottoms New Wave Shoes New Wave Wrist Bands
Rookie Rise Pack
1x MyPlayer Accelerator to Lvl 10 1700 VCIn my opinion, all that's not worth the extra money.
