metatropic, I'be not read much about Valhalla but assuming the changes have been made in preparation for the PGA. What sort of changes are we talking about ?? Are they more refinements and tweaks or wholesale design style changes ?? I did look at overhead on Google Maps but the data is often out of date and the course didn't appear to be much different to what I know. Cheers

I did look at overhead on Google Maps but the data is often out of date and the course didn't appear to be much different to what I know. Cheers The biggest change was to reseed all the fairways and light rough; doesn't affect what I have to do much! They have lengthened a few holes, 1st and 14th in particularly, adding about 100 yards in total to an already long course. They have rebuilt the rockery to the right of the 13th green to include a set of waterfalls. It's v pretty. If you go on google earth and switch off 3d buildings in the layers, the view you get is very up to date, includes all the new tee positions. With 3D on you get the older version. Sadly there are no "every hole at" videos of Valhalla (maybe one will come out before the PGA); I am relying on footage from the 2014 PGA, which is helping me place seating etc. Being a Nicklaus course, thankfully there are very few grandstands, as he likes to build spectator mounds. It's a thrilling course; it is one of my favourites on golf + on the quest (Yale is my other fave).

Looking good Ali. Be careful with the lighting. Looks a little dark in spots. As long as it can be played with varying lighting conditions then should be fine. And to avoid offending anyone... don't rush the release !! Cheers

Yes, might revisit the lighting; some of the darker ones were me playing with lighting for photos.

I wasn't quite happy with the heavy rough/light rough mix so have changed those, and then changed the lighting, and now a million things don't look quite right, so spending lots of time on little stuff, mostly marginalia. The key stuff, the main surfaces and sculpting are there I think. Still the odd bit of green that needs attention. Will be done when it's done! I'm at 99% object meter so down to one in one out for most things, still got some file meter for extra grasses.

The colour of the first cut of rough looks much better. IMO it should be progressively darker from fairway. I've seen a lot of designs where the first cut is the darkest. Alway looks very odd.

Exactly. Played with a few combos to correct that but needed Mitch's eye to find the right one! I guess come May we'll know how close I am!
