Welcome to the Dynamic Duos Course Design Contest!
This contest will give you the opportunity to pick a mate, and then design golf courses that compliment each other. I have found myself slightly frustrated with contest requirements and restrictions, so I wanted to host a contest that would really give the designers a ton of freedom. As far as restrictions go, there won’t be many. Use the entire plot if you want to. No yardage restrictions. We will have a pretty standard Par system in play, however. (Course must be between par 69-73, which shouldn’t be difficult at all.) Just build the best course you can, using whatever tools and methods you’d like.
I want to see creativity. I feel like without many restrictions, this community will be able to pump out some pretty sweet courses.
Once we have all the team signed up, we will have a draft of sorts to determine which “category” or “theme” the team will use.
Depending on numbers, we will have a draft for Team theme or Environment (Highlands, Rustic, Delta, etc)? I like this for keeping the 2 courses tied together and for getting some variety in the contest as well. If we have more teams than Themes available, we will look at an alternate method. Maybe choose regions or locations to base your environments in…..?
Judging will be something similar to MT where everyone votes on the other teams courses. So say we had 6 teams of 2. You and your teammate will agree and vote on the order you would rank the other 5 teams courses, 1-5. After the judging has been completed we will take the top two teams and have a match play style judging, just as we did in MT.
Sign-up window will be open starting today. Sign-up window will close Thursday, December 14th. We will have a draft the following day, Friday December 15th, to determine themes. I’m hoping to do this around 12pm CST, so our European counterparts can participate as well.
Please drop your usernames below to sign-up. If you want to sign up as a single, we will randomly pair the singles together.
There will be no plot sharing or file sharing in this contest please. We have many designers still on console, and want to keep it fair for them.
Also, no WIPS allowed. Should start with a fresh plot for this contest.
Publish window will open March 1st and all courses must be submitted by Friday, March 22nd at midnight CST.
