Welcome to Flinders Bluff. The obviously fictional home of the 2024 Australian Open - an overdue fixture to the major calender. This course was inspired by a combination of landscapes along the southern Victorian coastline such as Flinders and Aireys Inlet in particular. The plot was created around a tidal creek (similar to Aireys Inlet) with high dunes running along the coastline and deep into the property. And yes, you’re playing at high tide for anyone who wants to nitpick. 😉 Aireys Inlet, Victoria Some key features include the many walking tracks throughout the property which also double as good viewing platforms for spectators. There is often a generous amount of fairway off the tee but definitely areas where you do not want to land regardless. Finally, the course is designed with a shitload of natural sand/waste hazards. Have ‘fun’! Recommended conditions for judging:Black Tees + SE winds + high winds + whatever pin you like + default everything else. Recommended tournament conditions:
ROUND/PIN | WIND DIRECTION | WIND SPEED | GREEN SPEED | 1 | SE | High | Very Fast | 2 | N | Very High | Default | 3 | W | High | Very Fast | 4 | S | Very High | Default |
# Default for everything else. I also published a Pro-Am version with far more generous conditions, easier pins, some forward tees, a par of 72 and some minor course alterations. The Pro-Am version should easily suit those wanting to play at a kinetic/elite difficulty.

Beautiful photo of the lighthouse on the headland. Fond memories of holidaying at Aireys Inlet as a kid and playing Flinders GC with my uncle who was a former prez. Looking forward to a round at Flinders Bluff tonight after work. No doubt it will not disappoint... unlike Cam Smith's round in the PGA yesterday. I like how you've branded the Major version as the venue for the Australian Open. Good luck in the comp !!

I'm in awe. This course was an absolute delight. The views and sightlines are incredible, and as tough as it was it allowed some really enjoyable ground game, my favourite type of golf.
This is my favourite course on this game, bar none. All the best in the contest, I hope it goes far!

Well this certainly did not disappoint. First off, the clubhouse and scoreboard are incredible. Major Course feel hit the mark from tee to green. Excellent use of camber. Green sites were all amazing. 12 and 14 were probably my favorites on my initial play. This one will do well for sure! congrats!

Wow, another ripper and we're all vying for second place. Congrats in advance for all the accolades this course will receive. Cheers.

So well done!!, I really gotta start thinking outside the box in my designs. The bunkering is so, so good and the planting on them is perfect!

blueblood1995 - Same as me. I've spent many NY eve's and holidays down there particularly in Anglesea. A great spot no doubt. strangi17 - I've watched plenty of playthroughs of my courses over the years and that was one of the most enjoyable. You thought it through and played it VERY well (other than the short 4 ). You either need to land on the green there with full backspin or lay up short/right. That tailwind made that hole even harder though. Your critiques were fair too. An Australasian Open sounds reasonable to me too. Will never happen but would be great. HoneyBadgerHacker - Cheers for the playthrough and support as always. Would be interested to know how you scored? nogoal05 - Thanks very much and glad you enjoyed your round. One thing I know for sure in some of these comps, there are always just so many good courses when you get to the pointy end, anything can win. scottish67 - Cheers mate. Means a lot from you. Yeah I tried to primarily build this one just with waste areas/bunkers given the environment and was mostly happy with how that turned out.

Just stunning environment, but nothing I wasn't expecting. Cracking version of a stunning part of Victoria. As kids we used to get down to Bells on lielows, if you can believe it!

Extremely well done as usual. Some extremely tough tee shots.

I believe I ended up either even par or -1 if I'm not mistaken. Pin 1 on default settings. Forgot to use the recommended settings but will next time and let you know.

HATE U
This is just another stinning course by the man that only makes stunning courses. Probably my favorite by you hole design wise since Cheslea Sands. I forgot to change from No-tempo playtesting and kept it and still shot +5 (granted I'm a trash putter in any setting and my partner kept talking to me during my round, but still). Awesome course and no doubt this will go far.
P.S. everyone will talk about the Score Board (for good reason) but I will bring up that filthy little tunnel between Hole 15 and 16. You madman!

This is simply one of the best 2K23 courses ever posted.
The course had holes that reminded me of some of the best courses in Victoria and Australia such as Moonah Links, Cape Shanck, The National and Barwon Heads. The planting is phenomenal and the views from the tee box were framed impeccably.
The hours you must have put into creating the scoreboard deserves the paise and accolades it receives. Creating something never seen before in the game with such an amazing amount of skilled designers posting brilliantly crafted courses is no easy feat.
Gareth, you keep raising the bar in the design stakes and we all benefit so greatly from your skill and drive to post incredible courses. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
