I'm thrilled to see Yale used, it's ranked the 68th best course in the US and I'm glad to see that it's greens are as tough as it's designers C.B. MacDonald and Seth Raynor intended them to be (Read the 3rd paragraph on the website) and the 18th, a long par 5 unreachable in 2 is still a bear to deal with. Some par 5s are meant to be 3 shot par 5s and there is no rule against it ... On in 3, 1 putt and mark down a birdie 4. I watched Fran do it yesterday on Twitch and he sucks!!! LOL Website >>>> Yale on Top 100 Golf Courses Website
How we designers place pins, we use a 9 box rule. With the green grids on green speeds to the max the pin is in the center box with 8 boxes surrounding it and we place pins so that there is no yellow, orange or red in the 9 boxes, lime green which is different than the regular green is allowable. Having said that, I replicated Yale for 2k21, it was approved here at TGC and I ported it over to 2k23 untouched before we designers and the TGC powers that be realized that the way the ball reacts on the greens in the 2 versions of the game were vastly different but there still should be no worst than yellow in the 9 boxes or I hope not and I'm sorry the course gave some of you fits ... It's C.B. MacDonald's and Seth Raynor's fault, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. LOL

I don't think I've played another like it in game with those big wide open spaces, elevation changes and slopey greens and fairways. Seems like you captured exactly how the RL designers had intended for it to play. I finished up at -8 this week. Just could not get it going at all.

I played my first two this morning. Have never played this course before but it's definitely an interesting one. Wide and open but the fairways and greens have lots of slopes to push you into trouble and there are plenty of shots with elevation changes. I actually found it quite a test this morning fransslabak 😬 Play well guys! Bit of overdue, but congrats on the TST last week mate. Cracking final round to get it done & fully deserved as you've been one of the best true simmers across all platforms on this game for a long time.

All I can say about this week, is to not miss your tee shot on the par 3 9th hole into the valley on the green.
I think I was about 60ft away with 6ft up, and ended up five or six putting as I could not physically hit the putter hard enough to get up the slope, still not sure why 100% on a putter wasn't enough to get up as the greens weren't ridiculously slow. But yeah, in hindsight I should have maybe chipped it up after the 4th or 5th attempt but didn't want to piss off the green keeper and I was fairly convinced I could still get out of the valley. I probably should have tried putting it massively away from the hole as that could have taken some of the steeper slope out of play. Anyway, finally one of the putts ended up rolling back pass me off the green to put me out of my misery. Pretty stupid & stubborn of me, as I was going along okay up until that point. Nevermind...
Absolutely stunning course to play though, and a really enjoyable challenge both from the tee & on the greens.

horusphoenix I don't know why the swale is so deep on the Yale Biarritz Hole, I've done quite a few Golden Age/Template courses using LiDAR and they are all like a 1' difference and easy to putt out of ... they went nuts here, sorry partner.

Disappointing final 2 rounds of 77 & 74 to finish up at +7.Lost count of the number of very short putts I missed. There’s always next week 😀

+2 and +4 for +6 at half.
First shot in. Into the drink. Quad bogey because every shot was awful. Even more annoying that after being +6 after 12, I only ended at +2. Mainly because none of the holes I scored well on didn't feel particularly well played, only lucky. Like the game takes pity on me and allows me to hit the shots well enough to get somewhere for a scoring chance.
One birdie in R2. One. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun.
Cheers, good luck.

After undergoing surgery earlier this week (nothing too serious but painful enough right now and taking pills that make me feel sleepy), I tried to play smart for rounds 3 & 4; I was not ready for that, so much is clear, and no need for mentioning my scores here - good old-fashioned meltdown!

Ahh no it's cool BaconJunkie1. It was my fault for going in there in the first place, I literally told myself not to be short as I knew regardless of how deep the swale was, that was the last position you wanted to be. I should have taken my medicine off the tee, gone long and played for par. Sadly, I got far too greedy. It's generally a super par 3 to play. Interesting that the swale is so much deeper than what you usually get, but certainly adds to the intimidation factor when standing on the tee. Fair play on making such a good LiDAR, I have no idea how you designers pull it off. A lot of talent. It's always a pleasure playing courses like this. And on a side note the final hole is one of the best finishing par 5 holes out there, in my opinion. Such a tough fairway to hit to give yourself any chance of getting in up there, and if you miss it, then a par is suddenly a good score to walk off with. Congrats again on the course design mate.

horusphoenix and all of you TST'ers the respect goes both ways, I watched Frans and OOBERR play the other day on Twitch and that white line is hair thin ... It's amazing that you all play as great as you do, not to mention not having the other aids to help. [mind blown]

I think there is this shame about scores that I really think is not healthy on TGCTours. You hit over par so what, the top scores are pretty realistic and that is great for a sim tour. Nobody is even hitting under 30 over 4 rounds. Brenelan this is what I was trying to tell you in the test events this is sim golf some might find it fun and some will hate it but every single course requires a bit of respect and isn't a walkover so 40 to 50 under takes immense skill. It's tough and the people who say they are casual of course are not gonna like it. But this feels like a proper SIM tour and it's been a long since I am really enjoying TST. I have to admit I get annoyed about people who predict scoring when I have been watching SIM scoring for the last four years and I have really noticed the difference in scoring since the societies went o legend difficulty.

I think my primary concern was participation. I definitely wasn't disagreeing that it would be a tougher test of pixel golf, just whether it would be FUN. Probably too early to make the call on whether it was a good decision to make the change - but I'm happy that most everyone commenting here seems to be enjoying the change.
