Dear TST enthusiasts,
After the positive reactions to the water on last week's course, I just had to take you to Red Hawk Lakes in Nevada for this week's Desert Casino Cup: a Robert Trent Jones Jr. course with quite a bit of... water. Some of the greens are quite challenging, so I've told the GreensKeeper to not mow them too much throughout the week. Other than that, there's a bit of wind on some days but nothing too extreme and the weather is actually rather pleasant.
Have fun and good luck! Frans

First attempt at applying lessons learned last week; played slower, was more patient, used 3 wood more, lag putted on some tricky greens... and still couldn't refuse to go for the green with driver on the short par 4... Only made two stupid decisions which cost me two shots, but a solid round to start the week. Round 1: -3

What a course that was 👀 absolute gem that, Frans. I set out fully with the intentions of playing boring golf myself this morning than I stuck one in the water on the third and holed an eighteen footer for bogey and thought 'all aboard the rollercoaster'. Went for absolutely everything after that and had a blinder of a -12 that could easily have been a +12 on another day with the risks I took. Favourite course on the tours in ages this one. Really enjoyed it, some incredibly tight pins and tricky enough greens. Fantastic.
Looking forward to the rest.

Look away now if you don't want to know my score (Longpole lol) -12 -9 -9 -4 -34 overall. Another brilliant week that on a lovely course. Actually decided after this morning to just totally forego the main tours and play here. (And challenge circuit rounds for TBC). playing this and platinum back to back I just MUCH prefer this gameplay. It felt like two different games. Honestly I reckon I let ten go on the last two rounds. Played them all (plat and here) back to back and by the last round here I missed so many short putts by ramming them over the hole. And had some nasty slows. Just ran out of steam. But up to that was probably as well as I've ever played. Really enjoying the challenge in here this season and have woken up the last two Sunday mornings dying to tee it up

Sigh. Switched things up this week and went earlier than used to.
Was sitting at -5 after 16 holes in R1. Pretty good stuff considering I was setting the pace on PC early on (granted, only a few players at that point but still). Then 2 water balls for a quad on 17. I was deliberately aiming like 10-15 yards over the pin just to try and avoid the water and still got it twice because of a bad slow, and then a bad fast. -1 and stayed there. Such a harsh way to have a decent, maybe even good round get ripped away.
+1 in round 2. I honestly can't recall anything from that round, any fun I might have had before got sucked out with that one hole and it never returned.
No further comments to make.
Cheers, good luck this week.

Wasn't 17 the long par 3? It's a tough one for sure. I think in one round I took a full 3 wood in there.

I ran out of Golf Balls.....My worst ever scores i am hoping it did not pick my scores up again.I was so bad with the irons on the par 3s started taking 5 wood instead. 64.7% FIR as well, just shows the massive gap between irons and Driver in the game design.

E and +1 for my first two rounds. Consistent with my scoring last week. Enjoying it. Having the water about ensures you don't get greedy - have managed to stay out of it so far. I hit plenty of 3 Woods and 3 Irons off the tee on Par 4s. Still hoping to sneak in under par by the end of the tournament. Good work once again Frans!

Well Round 1 I had to question my sanity for even being here. Spent more time in speedo's than golfing attire. A double water ball early on set the tone (and my temperament) and stormed off the 18th with a +9.
Decided to be a man rather than a mouse and set off for Round 2 with no fear and enjoyed my little self. Ended 3 under and really should have been better if I could only make the odd putt over 3 feet.

Said to Mark I think that first round was my best on any of these games given the settings and pin positions. Was bang on it and holed everything I looked at. Weirdly sticking it in the water on 3 then holing a long one for bogey kick-started the week. I think round 4 will cost me a win. 50% too many rounds in one sitting and 50% a bottle job there. Or maybe 1% and 99%, who knows! 🤣 Best of luck with the rest of yours if you're still to play them 👍

Sorry Frans fransslabak but that's me done. And it's not the legend swing, I like that and would like to see it implemented on the Pro Tours. But I'll never get on with the putting in this format. I quit after the third of fourth 4 putt (I lost count!!) on the last 2 rounds. It's totally down to me, I just want a bit of quick fun on great courses. The courses here are first class but the fun element, for me, is zero because I can't fathom the putting. I gave it a go at least. Good luck going forward.

Haven’t played for about a year, barely played this iteration so why not jump back in with legend swing haha.
Shot +51 last week but didn’t realise I had to check 3rd party in-game.
Anyway, started 84/79/82.
My iron play is poor. Driver not too bad. Think round two I hit 85% fairways and only 4 greens lol.

I played your ghost round 1 Ben, though you had some hiccups the main cause of the dropped shots was aggressive putting. I don't play grids but there is no way I would be hitting the putts that hard on 141 greens. One thing I have always been pretty good on is putt weight and as you hit those putts a lot softer you just have to give way more break also, it's something you learn the more you will play on sim tours. Unlike 2K21 you just can't smash them into the hole. It feels more like real golf, I do think the faster green speed over 155 the downhill roll just gets a bit silly but after 2 rounds the set up here is A+. really enjoyed the course again. This is a big step up for TST from last season for me, so much more enjoyable to play with a challenging long game. I am assuming the aggressive putting comes from playing grids mostly Ben, you just can't be that aggressive with no grids as it is more like real golf where you never want a return putt of 5 to 8 foot. Play more weight putting and I really think you'll enjoy TST, your long game is pretty sharp.
