Yeah edl_vedder played a round with your ghost and your putting wasn't great. Still better than mine though, you beat me by 2 shots!

The game has many flaws but it also has many pros in its favour that counters those flaws. Squirt would be more realistic if the variance was 1-2 degrees top on a perfect or near-to-perfect swing, but as we have found in countless of hours of testing, even on a perfectly straight shot, from a tee the variance can be up to 8-10 degrees which is insane. It has slowly gotten worse over the last few updates.
Overall I find it as a fun game, but when you talk about competitive gaming, it quickly becomes frustrating hitting an almost perfect shot and having the ball leap one way or the other and finding a bunker or worse.

Surely this confirms ball squirt is real?

That is the FIRST video I've seen that would make me say yes. Every other one has had the shot line ENTER the cone at the bottom slightly off center or had the ball at the top slightly off center. That one appeared to be Dead center on the way in and Dead center on the way out.
However I do have a theory about this kind of thing. The more I see it happen...I think it may be due to the mesh beneath the course we see. I know that the mesh is not really all that tight. I also know that when you put down fairway or green it will smooth out what's there quite a lot. I'm wondering if the ball squirt has anything to do with hitting from a point in the mesh where triangles are coming together and they are at slightly different heights. almost like hitting of a wonky lie.
I got to thinking about that when I tried to use the flatten tool to flatten a very small area of a green around the pin the other day and found that I couldn't unless I made it wider. I think it's flattening...but kind of only on the surface if that makes sense.

I believe there is an uneven lie on the tee box and certain spots on the courses that you can't see. Is that an issue with the course designer?

Sadly for some of us, this is nothing new and despite the nay sayers we have held steadfast this is something out there that effects shots, be it a bug or intentional. I guess my question would be why would we lie?

Why take this game so seriously? Quite honestly, the only time I play it are for one or two practice rounds at whatever course is up that week. Play two rounds after midnight on friday/sat morning, 2 more on sunday depending if I think I made the cut. Rinse and repeat. If I put in play time like most of the other big dogs here id be in the top half of the pga tour instead of the bottom half. Im looking at a top 30 finish at spanish oaks this week and pretty happy about that.
Like the old saying goes "why you heff to be mad? its only game."

I shoot in the 50's a fair bit but I can easily spot a big squirt lol you have to be able to putt well to make up for it. Unfortunately, this is true. I know it, because MY putting sucks. This sounds like my scenario. I'll putt poor to avg for several rounds, then putt lights out with everything dropping for a round or two then back to sheer frustration burning the edge over and over. But those mega-low rounds are what keep me coming back, and the competition of this tour. Great stuff!

Yeah edl_vedder played a round with your ghost and your putting wasn't great. Still better than mine though, you beat me by 2 shots! Which course was it? I'd say I'm a steady "Two-Putter". I don't really care about where I am on the Green, I'm quiet confident making a two putt from almost anywhere. I just can not get them to sink for birdie on a constant basis. If I would, I'd probably shoot in the low 60s/high 50s more often. Damn!

I would say that too, well apart from when playing the open quailifiers. When playing "normal" greens most of my putts from most distances get very close, they just hardly ever drop. Some of the ghosts I play with seem to drop everything under 25 feet!

Then again, the courses are proceduraly generated, so maybe minor differences every rendition?

I personally find it funny that you have to move the analog stick straight up and down when IRL golf your swing goes inside out to make the ball somewhat straight, that or a push fade (outside in). Eitherway, it goes on an arc, not dead straight. Think TW14 had this part right, and would definitely increase difficulty - but bring in realism
