Have been playing the series from the beginning but took a break when 2k23 came out based on the feedback. Just started playing it and had a few questions hoping you guys could answer. 1) I have a big screen 4k tv and 2k21 graphically looks better to me ? Anyone else feel this way and found tv settings that help or HDR settings that are better for this setup ? 2) graphically is the Xbox series x enhanced version noticeably better visually on a 4k tv than the Xbox one x for anyone who had both ? Would consider getting the series X if this is true. 3) Fastest way besides paying for VC to gain dollars to buy new clothing ?
Thanks

Thanks I am on PlayStation and don't have a 4K TV, so I can't speak entirely to questions 1 and 2. I will say, I have played 2K23 on both PS4 and PS5, and the game looks near identical to me on both systems, and I have played the "next-gen" enhanced version of it, along with the "last-gen" version. The best things the next-gen version offers, IMO, is a much smoother framerate and slightly improved loading times. But for question 3, I'd say the best way to gain VC is to play career mode. You get the most amount of XP playing rounds in it, and each time you level up your MyPlayer, you get 250 VC. Also in career mode, you have sponsors and rivals...beating rivals and advancing sponsorships will give you bonus VC, as well as additional clothing and gear.

Thanks 1) Yeah imo the console version of 21 is much better graphically. 23 is terribly optimised for console unfortunately. 2) visually they will be much of a muchness. Series X will get closer to 60fps with less drops though.

Thanks guys for the responses.
One other question. Are there defaulted settings in error like in pga2k21 where the highlands courses were always defaulting to soft firmness despite what the designer chose ?
In particular it seems like every course I play the weather is overcast is that really the designers choice or flaw in the game ?
Thanks again

The overcast weather thing isn't an issue for me...must just be that you've played a few courses set with default overcast weather.

Thanks I'm on the same system, the LG C1 4K UHD screen and 100% agree that 2K21 is so, so much better looking than 2K23. I love 21 on the 60hz setting both in looks and how smooth it is in comparison. It boggles my mind how they went backwards here after adding 60hz in to 2K21. I found 23 glitches at the top of every swing for me too. I do really hope they make a big step forward for 25 because I play 21 on the regular as the best golf game I've ever played (that's including 2K23 in the mix) and worry they'll turn it off soon. Annoys me these days that games are always connected so you can't go back and play them when they switch the server off.

Annoys me these days that games are always connected so you can't go back and play them when they switch the server off. I do own an Xbox Series X now, bought one for the lounge couple of months ago. The biggest standout is the low resolution in the distance, it is horrible and it stands out like a sore thumb when you're on the tee. Also the fact that the DOF setting is so aggressive is so annoying as I absolutely hate DOF in a golf game. Why no option to turn it off. It is a terrible port from PC to Xbox visually, not sure if the PS version looks as bad. I have it on the PS4 Pro but only use it for setting up societies. 2K23 looks quite a bit better than 2K21 for me in PC, some of the textures are a big improvement, rock some houses etc look way better. But the biggest improvement is lighting, it is much better than 2K21 especially when I turn on HDR on my LG C2. Great TV I have 2, 42 inch as a desktop monitor and 55 inch in the lounge which my Xbox is set up on. This game should look much better on Xbox Series x, it isn't that demanding either. I can't think of many modern games that I can run at over 100fps with native 4K and TAA max settings on my desktop. It is really scalable on PC also, turn down a few settings like fog and shadows and clouds, sky etc you really get a large bump up in framerates.and it still looks great.

Although if I'm wrong I'm forever in your debt if you can find out where to do it because it's my biggest gripe with 23 lol

It is really distracting to me when moving the camera around the putting green to find a read for a putt. Crazy there is no option to turn it off.

It's mad isn't it. Remember all my gurning at release about the visuals? I couldn't put my finger on what exactly was different but when I went back to 21 I saw it immediately. The green in the distance on 21 from the fairway is crystal clear to the point you can see tiers and general slopes whereas in 23 it's very blurry. Even on putts as you say. I've kind of acclimatised to it now though.
But I remember your YouTube video of that Artic Fury course (Newfoundland something or other iirc) and it looked lovely on PC.

I must have just got used to the look I hated depth of field on the other games don’t know how I’ve missed seeing it on this game.

DOF is quite subtle in this game not like previous HB golf games on PC. It does slightly soften everything in the distance though. I don't like it so turn it off. The Xbox performance mode turns off screen-space ambient occlusion which is a pretty good lighting effect especially lighting around trees . But it also lowers distance resolution which is jarring as the avatar and everything closer is in 4k or upscaled 1440p. Honestly they could of tweaked the graphics a bit better to hit that 60fps target. Hopefully the next game has a 120hz mode with VRR option rather than 60hz Vsync which we are stuck with now. Hdmi 2.1 is becoming the norm on modern TV's and all the decent ones have 120hz variable refresh rate.

Just something about this caught my eye. Don't look for it though if it's not annoying you haha maybe it's just me fixating on it or something
