Played the 1 round event last night. Didn't fare too well, but also had made some dumb mistakes/club selections..
May miss a few here and there, but will try to at least get the 3 rounds in to establish HCP..

Glad your giving it a go fr33bird , course management is absolute key playing legend and now I sweat over a 5ft putt , Glad we're playing some legend society's otherwise I'd probably be knocking this game on the head , Honestly think TST is going legend also so giving the legend society's a go could come in handy for some practice .

TAN-56
TAN-56 at Lupo Golf Resort kicked off the TAN fall-winter schedule in a big way with the biggest field yet to tee it up on the elite level: no less then 35 players got into the mix to rumble in the desert! We greet FdParis as overall winner to take his very first TAN crown with a convincing net 65 to cash in the first 1000 points on the leaderboard. Great playing and congratulations! Coming in second place was shared by Hammers1man and WeltyBeast, who carded no less great scores with net 66's. Also hearty congratulations gentlemen. Very good playing indeed. You pocket 850 points to start off the schedule! For all points and ranking check out TAN SEASON 2023 Leaderboard thread. All players many thanks in joining up and enjoying the TAN competition! Play well and bag points! ultra-sim-experience.proboards.com/thread/706/new-society-tough-nails-legend?page=19

TAN-57
TAN-57 at Alta Mira proved a stern test for most of the field. Only 9 players managed par or better and only 4 of those were able to break par . Again a strong field teed it up with 31 players giving it a shot. This time a commanding win was claimed by SimChars, who carded a fantastic net 63 to pick up his very first TAN crown and 1.000 points. Well done! Subtlebees (65) and Weltybeast (66) secured second and third place for themselves, collecting 850 and 750 points along the way. Its in the bag gents! Congratulations. On a side note: we include the gross scores (GS) on the CP leaderboard for those who want a quick look . We remind everybody that TAN is about net scores and now also about earned game points. Thanks to all for playing TAN! For full crossplay TAN leaderboard check: ultra-sim-experience.proboards.com/thread/706/new-society-tough-nails-legend?page=19

TAN-58
The TAN crew landed at Sand Hollow, a beautiful desert course in Utah recreated (and updated) by Skunky. Big fairways are very driver friendly and invite the player to make the most of it. The back nine becomes trickier though when the course moves into the mountains. Again, a big field teed it up with 30 players having a go. A double winner podium this time with LowToeKnockDown carding a excellent net 65 picking up his first TAN crown and 1000 points, together with 'old campainer' Hendomedes who picked up his second TAN crown too! Congratulations gents. Third place on his own we greet another TAN player from the very beginnings with Roger, who carded a solid net 66 and picks up 750 points. Well played! On the season points leaderboard we are beginning to see some movement at the top where FdParis leads the field, closely followed by SimChars and Hendomedes! We will soon leave the desert sands for greener pastures, but will conclude our dustbowl swing with the first 2-round tournament at Redland Mesa. Double points to be earned gentlemen and all will be reshuffled again on the season points leaderboard. Good luck to all! 2 round event, though I scored halfway decent - I have to believe that many of those pin placements were likely on illegal slopes as the breaks on some of those putts were just ridiculous. Is there anyone 'rangering' the courses prior to selection to insure the pins are condusive to no grid putting - i.e. not on any orange/red slopes ??
Just curious..

If you think that was bad, stay away from the current Simulation Tour event. Same horrible pins (or worse) with 186 greens and high winds.

Tbh Jeff of the 60ish courses previously played I have only really noticed 1 single bad pin location on one hole. I know Charles does a lot of course testing and generally TAN tends to use green speeds under the 150's. I haven't played this one yet so I can't really comment about how playable the pins are.

Is there anyone 'rangering' the courses prior to selection to insure the pins are condusive to no grid putting - i.e. not on any orange/red slopes ?? Just curious.. Sorry to read this Jeff. All courses are tested and set up specifically to TAN standards. All courses have been playtested too, meaning that at least 1 full round has been played on them to check playability especially. Sloping on some greens is obviously in play as some courses do have them. Even lidar courses. But with the TAN set-ups we make sure that no 'funny' stuff can creep through and we pride ourselves on having a near perfect record. Redland Mesa is a good course and the set-ups are definitely fair. No green a/o pinplacement was found to be suspicious. TAN settings are the elite level on simulation play and demands are obviously high, especially with putting. Hopefully you will persevere and keep Tanning!

No worries, just felt there were some greens on the first pin placement we used where the slope at close range was a bit excessive. Anyway, not really complaining, just observation is all.. Perhaps it was more frustration as a few of those I ended up 3 or 4 putting, LOL..
