Giving this thing another try, but I truly don't know how people shoot as low as they do without meters... Help a brother out?
Starting to figure out putting a little bit, but it's freakin' tough man.
How the hell do you chip? Every chip I hit is slow. Pitching? Similar results.
Any tips for a tour newb who's just dipping his toes in?

Everyone develops their own style in the end but what helps me. Just in general, without meters, vibration is your guide in the backswing.
I am NOT a top player - Middle of the road CC-J player. But have played TGC, 2K21, 2K23 a fair bit.
I never move the distance on putts nearer or further away, just side to side. I use the TST cam for putting, I forget what it's called (putting and chipping cam or something in Cameras, its at the top) instead of the scout cam and use a trigger to get an aerial view and the putt cam to get a ground level view. (I'd suggest not using this cam to begin with, as it also affects your chipping scout cam inside 45 yards. You can switch it on and off in-game but who wants to keep doing that?) I use the vibration as my guide. Do a few little pull backs to feel the vibration. Uphill give it a bit more, downhill, give it less. I don't do partial pull-backs for putting. All the way back every time even for a 1 footer. The slight delay between stick movement and club movement helps with this. And obviously...keep it straight. Reading the breaks is something you just have to learn. Be more cautious with higher green speeds, particluarly over 155, when putting downhill.
Chipping, I use the same approach as putting. I will often do a practice swing or two to get the tempo. But again, all the way back, feel the vibration as your marker. I do move the distance marker for chips though and a touch of back spin to stop loads of roll out. Pay attention to the elevation.
I find pitching quite tough. If you can change to normal shots, I would recommend that. But once you get inside 100 yards, you are into the pitching realm. Take a couple of practice swings to get the tempo. The speed of the forward (downswing) changes quite a bit I find, with how far you want it to go.
Hope at least some of that makes sense and hope it helps but, of course, everyone plays the game differently and you have to find what works for you.
Ultimately. Practice.
Disclaimer - I am not that good at 2k23 but not dreadful at chipping and putting.

Disclaimer - I am not that good at 2k23 but not dreadful at chipping and putting. Definitely some helpful info in here. The main thing that helped was that I turned vibration on. When I play for fun with friends on Pro and have the meters, vibration is usually turned off. But I think it's kind of critical to have it turned on here.
While I still sucked, I did suck a little less. I went from +15 in my first round to +7 in my second round and had a couple birdies.

There used to be a course that was designed with 18 holes of just pitch shots anything from 60-120 yards. Not sure if this is still available on 23. If I come across it, I’ll add to post

3rd round in the books and happy to say I've improved again. Went from +15, to +7, to E. Even had a few birds and an eagle this round. It's hard as hell, but starting to get the hang of it. After this qualifying event, I'll be taking my talents to South Beach

I do a few things to prepare:
—I play a round on Career. I'm not too worried about results, I'm just trying to get timing and muscle memory flowing. —Then play your first round on the TGC Tour. Usually most of your bad golf is already gone for the day. —If you have a good opening round, play your second "while you're hot". Nothing worse than torpedoing a good round by going in cold the next day. —I know you are a designer. Do a lot of testing on your courses. The "Rewind Shot" function is great for fine tuning your swing. Even better, you can design bunkers and rough and "Play from Here", a great way to practice all of the short game.
Good luck!

Points 1-3 are definitely helpful and something I'll keep in mind for next tournament.
Yup, I dabble in designing. Fairly new to it so I'm still learning the ropes. I do a ton of testing, but I feel like you can never test enough. On top of the general testing I did while building my last course, I also play tested it for like a week straight from every tee with every wind condition to make sure it felt good. There were still lots of things I missed that I wouldn't have even thought about, that others pointed out. The current course I'm building, I've been switching up the difficulty while play testing so I can get a better feel of what different skilled players might encounter. I have yet to test it on these CC settings, but plan to.

I still suck with these settings, but this felt really good to pull back to even par on 18, after a rough front 9.

Boom! Absolute bomb.
Good work. And good luck with qualifying for TGC.
Probably see you flying past me on the tour soon if that putt is anything to go by!

Hi it takes patience and time. I’m in CC-F now and this week rnd 1 -8 rnd2 +5. It is crazy game Wow, I was playing the current course I'm designing and I was -4 at the turn and ended up +6. And it wasn't even the fault of the course at all. I just ended up hitting some really bad shots and put myself in some bad positions. I played the next qualifying course (Locked Stable) and managed to shoot E. Beautiful course BTW, trying to practice the course before the Q rounds start.

Will I qualify at +1? Had two good rounds to start, then shat the bed on just a few holes in the next two rounds and killed my score.
