Yes this, and also with LiDar eating a ton of object meter in 2k23 makes porting a nightmare. A few of mine cant get over and publish without starting over (i.e. garden city, silverado and pinehurst etc.). Both are around 160% on the object indicating I didnt do a good job masking out the unneeded LiDar on the plot. Like you said, Masking plays a huge part in it, that and trees and elevation. A few tried to get Alotian in the game but kept running into meter issues because of the trees and it's crazy elevation changes, I had to mask it really tight and fix a few things to get it to work. The raw course file was 4529 KB which is really good for that course.

I agree, that would be great Alotian's mask file, when I said tight .....

The real courses on this game are a travesty. Most are just guess work that never even comes close to the actual design. Take the Chicago golf club for example. I’ve played that 5 times in real life. And no where does that course have light rough for 10 yards off the fairway. If you miss a fairway their by a foot your in ankle high rough. The course doesn’t even sniff the actual course. It’s a piss poor re creation that the designer should be ashamed about. Even the layout isn’t even close besides the yardages.
Basically it’s just a guess by designers using actual course yardages. And film footage or course photos translated over into a generic washed down imitation of a real course.
So we have user created courses that would play tougher than any US open venue known to man. Some have 15 yard wide fairways that roll off into hazards or unplayable lies. Two hundred and fifty plus yard par 3 ‘s with an island green feel and 20 yard wide undulated greens. I get it .. it’s video game golf. But making something harder doesn’t always mean it is better and playable

It’s a real, shame because a RCR relies on plenty of meter to get all the planting to look authentic. If you are only left with 30% meter this won’t be possible and the RCR won’t look anything like IRL. Shame there isn’t a new Chad’s tool to “smooth” the LIDAR to drop the meter down to about 30%

Do you think that was deliberate from HB/2k to stop real courses or is it just bad programming in 2k23 it seems with so many errors in 2k23 i think they just messed up the programming somewhere. Isn't it down to the newer trees usinowg much more resources. It's either just crap programming or they did it on purpose. I can play my oversize 2K21 LiDAR's (the OC's, Crail etc) at over 150 on the meter quite happily in 2K23 on my PC by through the unpublished courses tab but it won't allow me to publish (presumably because it might not play on older consoles?). It would be nice if they just came clean and told us!

Does anyone know if the 2k23 version of TPC Sawgrass by HB/2k is LiDAR. I Could do a flyover and check it but to me it seems different than the tgc2019 original version.
