After shooting +28 in the promotion tournament I finally got a good video to show why tempo will never work for me.
I have an EXTREME SWING SPEED. My swing is over in under 1/4 of a second! That is a FULL SWING, all of grey to white and back again on the meter in .25 seconds. So most of my swing takes place inside the dead zone of the controller where it is not readable by the game. I guess this does have a bright side in that I am a top ten Divot Derby player.

There is no swing being made in the video other than a small bit at the beginning. I don't understand what you are trying to show us. If you are trying to swing with the left stick and it isn't registering, then you either have a faulty controller, or you are trying to swing too early before the game registers an attempt.

I swing with the right stick. I'm moving the stick very slowly in the video to show how much play or center dead zone there is in all three stock xbox controllers I have. The amount of swing taken in that dead zone does not register.

There is a minimum threshold analog stick movement speed which must be met in order to move your in game character. This applies to all platforms with all controllers. Keep in mind that Timing (tempo in 2k21) is only affected from the part of your analog stick motion from dead center neutral to the initial part of the forward movement. The backwards motion of the stick, nor the forward motion from the full rear stick position (or wherever you stop the analog stick) to dead center stick position has NO effect on Timing.
A good way to learn Timing is to take a full backswing and pause at the very top for several seconds, which gives 95%s, and then focus on a consistent and repeatable forward motion. Once you get the hang of that, then you can start incorporating a normal backswing into the mix. I prefer a very fast backswing, others like something closer to 1:1, while others yet, prefer a slow analog stick motion. Try them all and use what works best for you.

That is not the problem and my last tournament shows you why. -3 at the cut, finished the tournament at +8. I changed NOTHING about my swing. My swing that was perfect in the 1st two rounds became fast in the second. My putts that were stable in the first two rounds lipped out in the second. I CHANGED NOTHING ABOUT MY IMPUTS. This game is about the servers and WHEN you play it and now how.

Also your controller can suddenly freeze on you and you need to restart it. Then you may not have the same good swing.

Apparently from what I've heard the game is predetermining who will win. Now this doesn't affect most people as the game just has it in for some people, you and one other guy.

The game does not want to recognize my play style. About what cseanny said, I HAVE NO FORWARD MOVEMENT PAST THE BALL WHEN I SWING, ON PUTTS OR SWINGS. I END MY SWING when it reaches the part of the forward swing where the ball is hit. There is no input for the controller to read so the shot must be perfect! I expect the MOMENTUM of my swing on the controller to CARRY THROUGH my shot and define my swing. I don't have any forward swing for the computer to read!

If I bring the stick back a fraction and wait for the animation to get to a full backswing then push forwards its invariably fast, I have to pull back about halfway between dead centre and fully back and then push forwards to get good tempo, pushing forwards at the same speed which gets me a fast with the first method.

Either change the way you try to play and instead practice using a technique that brings results or accept you will never play well.

I still play this game as if it was the same game as when it first came out in 2014. I have hardly changed one thing about my technique since then. I want to AVOID TEMPO and not swing with it. The only change I have made is to extend contact with the stick when I throw it forward, which has improved my scores a bit. I work on IMPROVING THE WAY I SWING WITHIN THE WAY THAT I ALREADY SWING. I will never use tempo in this game because it cannot work and cannot be controlled.

I will never use tempo in this game because it cannot work and cannot be controlled. I have absolutely no idea what you're trying to achieve with this unrelenting stream of posts, but here are just a few observations:
1. I still play this game as if it was the same game as when it first came out in 2014. Have you also been banging your head against your kitchen door since 2014? 2. I have hardly changed one thing about my technique since then. How's that been working out for you? 3. I want to AVOID TEMPO and not swing with it. The current iteration of the game makes tempo nearly all-important. Wanting something doesn't make it work. If that was the case, I'd be married to Selma Hayek.
4. I work on IMPROVING THE WAY I SWING WITHIN THE WAY THAT I ALREADY SWING. I'm afraid your stubbornness to change the way you swing means that you are, effectively, trying to polish a turd. 5. I will never use tempo in this game because it cannot work and cannot be controlled. How, then, do you account for all the scores that are so much better than yours? Are you suggesting that the top players are all using magic fairy dust or calling HB to find out when their servers are least populated?
Please, for the love of all things holy, stop this pointless crusade. You are achieving nothing by posting the same thing time and again. People have given you advice, yet you refuse to accept it. I can assure you that cseanny is a far better and more knowledgeable player than you. I would suggest watching his videos on YouTube, or that of other excellent players like KaraCakes, and you might find rather a lot that will improve your game. I'm struggling to actually see why you persevere with this game if it brings out in you nothing other than CAPS LOCK and frustration.

1. I don't give up on the way I do something ever. I am the world's most stubborn person and hate giving up on things. For an example from my personal life I'm talking to a 3rd woman from the Dominican Republic now even though the last two I married put me in jail in the DR to try to get my house and the 2nd had a kid with some other dude. 2. Sometimes it does and sometimes it does not. In 2017 and 2019 I was near top 1000 players using the same technique. From 2021 until this season I played beer league. 3. If I try to use tempo my swing gets worse. One out of three perfect swings I make miss the target by twenty yards, and most of these swings are off the tee. 4. I can't understand swing timing because I have Asperger's Syndrome. Unless I can see the meter, every swing I take the timing is new to me again. Im only now starting to learn timing enough to play a -4 round once a tournament or so on. Another example of this is I do not adjust shots because there are no blue arcs visible during competition play. If a shot does not fit any of my clubs like that too short for 3W and too long for Driver fairway this week in CC, I am stuck. I don't even know which way on the left stick is a fade or draw because I refuse to use it unless I can see it. 5. Most people have better scores than me because they have better pings to the server, or are not playing Xbox and have more controller polling points.

meunier33 I would suggest looking into #1. Being stubborn hasn't helped you so far (so it seems). I hope you are not proud of this at all. Seriously. This is alarm bells level of a red flag on the details you shared. This is far and above more important above your video game play stuff you have posted here. Seriously.

I don't know what people on youtube are talking about. There is a tempo skill number?? Two way miss?? I never pay attention to what my lie % is because I don't understand how to use it to play.
