You're still here!? Fine then, here's another course. About the tournament: This year's N3N Russian Open will be anything but изи. Camber is the name of the game. There will be plenty of missed fairways, but a generous amount of light rough should keep your hopes alive. On your approach, be sure to leave yourself on the right side of the hole because these greens are menacing. About the course: Bragg Highlands was created by the most famous doctor in golf architecture, PithyDoctorG. The par-72, 7189-yard course offers views of Lake Michigan and Crystal Lake. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore lies just to its east. Despite being consistently ranked among the top courses in the United States, the only tournament of note it has hosted has been the 2022 Lord Byron Open, due to its location far from population centers and the corresponding lack of sufficient facilities (lodging, transportation, infrastructure) needed to accommodate the crowds attracted by major tournament events. There are relatively few bunkers--no hole has more than three bunkers and three holes are bunkerless. Instead, interest is provided by significant land movement. On most tee shots you will need to anticipate how your ball will roll out and you need to think about what kind of stance and distance you'd like to have for your approach. The course's primary defense are its steeply canted greens. Good luck everyone!

Enjoyed this course. I always like courses that call for positioning, managing the lie at your feet, and picking spots to leave it on the green as opposed to heavy rough everywhere. And I think this is a pretty stiff test even with lots of light, rather than heavy, rough.
I went -10 on round one. Two silly bogeys cost me a little (missed four(!) footer, and a sloppy slow on a par 3.
Finally finding my feet somewhat on PlayStation at last and nine shots better this round than last weeks first round.
Play well guys. Looking forward to the rest.

Last week I ended in a very satisfying t-7th.
This week I’ll hand back the green thingies I won.
The move to default balls hasn’t ruined my putting - I was and still are a mediocre putter; always have been.
It has, however, ruined my bag. All my fittings are based on tempo and swing path, relying on the consumable balls to get me the extra distance. Now, that distance is gone and I’m consistently ending up between clubs. I’m trying to compensate for that, I adjust loft and loose tempo. Or I overswing and loose tempo and path. Either way, it’s a disaster… 😂😂😂
Anyway, back to grinding and the drawing board for adjusting fittings and skills - even considering moving back to Greensman archetype. All confused about what would be best… 🙃🙃🙃
Support the move to default balls but boy has it screwed me… 🥳
Best wishes Frans

-13 for R1. Didn't dare push further (for now). Felt like I stole shots overall, and yet I missed some simple putts.
Will finish later.

+1 thru 9 holes. Barely hit a perfect swing in the 1st round. Fasted everything to a left pin and slowed everything to a right pin leaving impossible up and downs. Decent last 27 holes to get to -16 but a missed cut and rethink about my thumb swing technique. I don't think tempo works with single thumb. Only duffed a couple splash shots this time and hit a couple 40y flops with super slows up me nose. Missed a 1ft putt swinging the stick too soon after missing the previous putt while still on the loading screen thus leaving it short (a bad habit of mine ) Always next week I suppose.

Felt like there were some difficult greens this week. Will be interesting to see the scores now the default ball is locked in.
-18 after 2, should hopefully be enough.

Hello.
It is remarkable how a slight drop in framerate (from 144 fps to about 130-135) affects my tempo so much in this game. I had this issue from the very beginning and solved it initially by turning down my graphics settings (I'm on PC), but it has gotten worse with the 1.05 patch.
I shot -41 in the Q-Event on a course with no trees. Then, last week, I missed the Elite cut with -9 a day after the 1.05 patch came out. My tempo was horrible, with considerable dispersions (grey, close to dark grey, both fasts and slows) and barely any perfects. So I lowered my graphics settings again (mostly object detail), and it looked like I was good to go. However, on holes with heavier planting (and this week's Elite course has a nice mix of holes suitable for troubleshooting), my tempo still goes south.
Anyway, I hope my -19 makes the cut.
Slightly confused about my tempo, I played all 4 rounds of the Promo Event right afterwards. There, the course is almost treeless again, and I'm hoping that my -57 gets me promoted to Plat.
I'm still thinking that Elite is where I belong, especially on average planted courses, so I'll consider my potential stay in Plat as a vacation.
TLDR: If you're on PC and having remarkable tempo issues, you might want to consider lowering your graphics settings, even if the game appears fluid.
Cheers and good luck all!
Kevin

Kevin Instead of hoping for treeless courses, wouldn't it be sensible just to lock to 60fps and play with that as a constant?

Instead of hoping for treeless courses, wouldn't it be sensible just to lock to 60fps and play with that as a constant? Thanks for your input! I played on a 60Hz monitor for a long time and noticed a big improvement in tempo when switching to my current monitor sometime during 2K21, in the sense that polling points dispersion has become much finer. I'm not sure if artificially switching back to 60fps does the trick here, but I will check. Thanks again, and don't forget to let me know about your plans with HTF! Cheers, Kevin

Cheers, Kevin No problem Kevin I mean, I'm no expert (I stopped playing on PC many years ago), but I would always plump for the most stable frame rate possible, regardless of other graphical niceties, so cap at "X" fps / hz whereby "X" is as high as possible but you don't drop frames regardless of how a course is planted? Might be that there's some other magic going on with PC re matching mouse / pad polling rates, but I'd have to imagine that the WTF moments would be much reduced if you didn't drop frames.

-12 bogey free to open up. Couldn't buy an eagle either, despite 3 good chances. -4 to follow. Everything I picked up I gave back and made some spectacularly poor decisions. See ya next week

I can confirm that a lower framerate reduces the number of polling points for me. Played at 100 fps yesterday and it was either perfect or well into the grey.

finished up at -42, borderline top 25 we'll see, probably not going to hold on to a promo point when everyone plays

Welp. I made the cut this week, at least. Looking forward to my 60-something place finish.
