So, I have been gone for about 5 years, the spline tool was in its infancy stages when I left as it was a brand new feature then and it was quite messy.
For Wall placement:
I first started trying to freehand my waypoints, that looked quite bad as you would expect.
So i got the idea to use the "Distance" tool
But, this left some errors and it was very time consuming to get the starting points exact, gave good results, but not exactly the perfect look I was after, so I kept digging into my imaginary bag of tricks.
Got the idea to use walls, this was much less time consuming and left a much better end product as the Distance tool
I also tried using textures to trace around, but I quickly learned that if they are not planted perfectly, its going to be crooked. So I tried the spline method of a texture to get the correct spline distances for the walls, this along with the walls as markers did the trick to near perfection.
What methods are you guys using? and are they any faster than what i have going?

That looks awesome and much more precise than anything I've put together. I just tend to wing it and add trees / plants to hide the imperfections.

So this is the start of a new "Mini-Golf" or "putt putt" course. Starting with the facilities then going to branch out from there, should be fun and creative.
Current plot:
Some parking lot action (no cars yet)
yup, exciting stuff ! lol
After your round of min golf, enjoy a meal at Paradise Steak House (still under construction of course)
thats it for today, gotta start mapping out the mini holes here soon.

got a little more work into it,
more prep work:
enhancing the water feature with some new stones
current progress
have a little bit more to do with the landscaping, but the bulk is nearly complete, need one more layer of pine straw down, then i can begin the main event. The real fun part.

I like the dedication you have to getting it all symmetrical, looks like you've got off to a good start. Creating mini golf courses is fun as they allow you to be experimental with objects and hazards, I'll be following this with interest.

Man this is amazing. I need this level of dedication for the clubhouse.

more boring stuffs!
starting out with more prep work shots
in the above, that is the completed prep work for the 2nd level wall around the entire facility to contain the pinestraw.
the 2 shots below go further into detail on the steps taken for just one 90 degree edge, the location had to be correct.
showing the wall waypoints
edit: opps, forgot to resize that pic
now comes the 3rd level wall, the last of the walls
2 shots of the current full progress, its coming along nicely
and here is the math the game uses
the two fountains I used own like 2% of that object meter alone, I have to limit those for sure.
will update when the as they come.

moving along to some holes.
Hole # 1 is Plain Jane, not to be confused her smoking hot sister with Mary Jane. She is as straight forward as you can make a hole, she is as easy as a rigged slot machine, you can't miss the hole unless you just suck. She is as boring as you would expect her to be.
So grab a ball from the bucket, a putter from the bag, and put your best foot forward, if you are in a wheelchair, NO CARTS ON THE GREENS PLEASE!
Hole # 2 is Hardwood, cause if you try to cheat, you will find some hard wood. This hole features some of the finest recycled pallet wood around these parts of this unknown location, I googled that fact. The tree died a long time ago, but we hired a local taxidermy and he stuffed the sh%$ out of this dead tree with real hard wood, he said he filled the holes up good. I will take his word for it.
A hole in one can be had if you play your hand right, if you cheat and chip and somehow miss the tree, you suck anyways cheater!

final update before sleep, for me of course, I dont know when you sleep or if you sleep at all, its none of my business.
Hole 3, not 100% completed, but heavily play tested and working as intended, this was not as easy to pull off, but the rest of the 15 holes will just be getting more and more complicated, so ...no tears!
hole is 90% done, I see a few things that can be done.
Hole # 3 is G-Force, you know, the kind of force you will need on that putter of yours, this is a full putter shot son. Don't be shy, just pull it back and wack it hard just like she said. If you done forgot to hit it hard, there is 100 signs, no, not 100 of them, but 2x 100 signs. If that confused you, at least you are not blind, otherwise you would not be reading this........but the slim chance you are blind? I aint apologizing, you are playing a golf game son.
Thats right, what goes up, must come down, thats why we love watching jumping jacks.
More to come some other time.

I’m loving how this is coming together 👏🏻 Only thing I’d say on this hole is to make the railings higher so folks can’t cheat and chip!

ok, back for another smaller update, only got 1 hole in plus some other edits to the existing crap.
First, I would like to explain that I am both working in the desert theme and have the sun blasting X-rays down is just for best viability while in the designer, I have the time set to 1200 and the inclination to 90 degrees and the orientation can F' off cause that does nothing with these settings. With that said however, there are times where i need to set the inclination way down to see the distance markers depending on the background behind them.
So lets get back to the show shall we.
First three holes I have shown, so I will not get too photo happy with them here, but I did manage to add down the walk area, and that presented an issue. The green texture trumps (no,......not Donald Trumps) the green texture trumps cart paths, and then they even turn around and stick the middle finger up and say keep 6 feet from me, you have covid, also put your mask on you nasty cart path. So, this meant I could not get the cart path flush up against the concrete border and it looked like bass without the bee.
The work around for this was not as straight forward as I had hoped, tried many things and got a little frustrated, may have shot a gun....maybe the cops were called? I dont remember and I cant recall, I was napping the whole time officer, did you ask the neighbors? Oh, they are the ones who called you? Opps. Anyhoot, I had to shrink some stuff, and then add in some hard wood. I dont know how I feel about it, but it beats the alternative of rough or fairway as a buffer zone.
What is this ....an obituary? lets get to the photos...
all that chatter for 2 photos.....must be the cocaine.
Hole # 4, "Son-of-a", cause that is what you will be saying if you guess wrong, like I know you will. There is a swear jar in the lobby, make sure you put some extra dollars in it before you start your round so you have extras to use in cases of emergency.
And lastly, I will leave you with the current plot. did some testing with different textures for cart path, pine straw, green, light rough.
(edit: F me hard, I forgot to resize another image)
The final theme will be something tropical, so never-mind all the bare dirt.

back with some new crap.
first, wanted to share a failed concept:
wanted to use this rail system on a few holes, mostly bi-level holes but the ball collision does not work correctly and it jumps out constantly even though there is nothing causing the ball to jump as its floor is as smooth as a greens surface. This has ruled out a few hole concepts I had in mind sadly.
But, I still wanted to get that figure 8 hole in there, I did manage to think up something.
Before we get to that, lets continue on...
Invented (patent pending) a tree planter slash sitting area, its very cost effective on the item %'s and looks better than regular benches, I will put a few of these around as they provide some much needed shade for waiting golfers.
Next up, Hole 5, Blindsided, hit it into the house, hope it makes it out and down to the green area (it will unless you hit like a girl, a little girl, or a weak ass little boy who also hits like a girl, a little girl)
This hole took WAYYYYYYY longer to complete than I expected, I had to completely rip it up several times due to flaws and errors and start completely over. But who cares about that, its done now.
Ah, Hole 6, Figure 8, no....it does not look like a figure 8, as much as I wanted it to, it dont, If I left it as a true figure 8 all kinds of hell would have broken loose, including confused ass golfers wondering where the hell to hit the damn ball, but whatever. right?
So, in case you are as blind as a colorblind bat who only has 1 eye cause the other got stabbed by a small branch the bat didn't see and it flew right into it, now it wears an eye patch. You hit the ball up and over, then there is 100 signs, no silly, not 100 of them, but signs that say 100 as in 100% and a place to aim, aim at that place and whack the ball like you whack your ball, the ball goes under the ramp, through and out, and maybe it goes in the hole? maybe?? I doubt it, I was told you hit like a girl and blind like a one eyed colorblind bat.
all 6 holes thus far:
My favorite so far is hole 3 "G-Force"
Hole 6 is the first hole that can't be a hole in 1, the first 5 can, but hard AF unless you have played many times and know exactly where to hit the ball.
