Played a round at a new very nice recent created course...38th club course...picked cond.s for afternoon and overcast and the latter I had not played yet....very dark..noticed same with some dusk settings on some courses...did not see anything in graphics settings to adjust brightness; are we stuck with this?

Too dark in afternoon only means that either your TV/Monitor is too dark, or likely a mistake by the designer. When it's dusk or dawn, then it's normal. Sometimes it's only a couple of holes. Sometimes I find the lighting too dark. It's mostly a problem with putting because it's difficult to see the putter head to judge how hard to hit it.
Same thing happens in sunny conditions in shadows, which is really annoying and not particularly realistic to me.
