Hello all and congratulations on being successful on having your application to join the kinetic approved. Now I know what you are thinking, what am I talking about q school is not even finished yet. Well, I am speaking to you from the future, unless you are reading this is the future, then I am speaking to you from the past, so I already know who has made the kinetic. There is you, so long a plat player but now forced to slum in down in the kinetic, how the mighty has fallen, then there is you, still in kinetic, like last season and the season before, honestly, are you ever going to make an effort to move on, sometimes change is good, no need to be frightened of it. And you, from the lower tiers of the CC, finally made it to the pro tours, finally stopped sandbagging for those easy wins. But its a new season, so a clean slate for all, so welcome to the kinetic 2k23.
First I want to talk about the courses for the new season. At this stage. I have no idea of what the skill level of players is going to be, what sort of scores you are going to be shooting or what the average cut line is going to be, also the first few courses needed to be ready before q school even started, so how everything is going to play out at the start, I just don't know. I need to see people's scores, I will watch stream when I get the chance but it will take a little while before I know what type courses suit the kinetic the best. So for the first month or two, there will be a mixture of courses, some that I think might be on the easier side, some that maybe suit a higher tour. Some you may like, some maybe not so much, I have tried to avoid anything extreme at the start but there will be holes here and there that might cause a three putt or more. Again, until I see how you all play and score, there will be a period of experimentation and learning for us all. So be patient with me, I will screw up from time to time, especially when I drink schedule but I am getting help with that and of course, all feedback welcome, good or bad as long as it's respectful.
All settings for kinetic events are being tested with default balls, no skill points and no club fittings. There are a couple of reasons for this, first, it's how I enjoy playing at the moment and second but most importantly, I want to make sure it's fair for everyone that is playing on this tour, everyone should have the ability to hit a green in regulation, everyone should have the chance of hitting par or better on every hole. Like I said earlier, there will be tough holes where par is a good score but as everyone has a chance to make this par, I am happy. So if I can hit a green, and give myself scoring chances with default everything, so can everyone else, not matter what fittings or balls they are using. I am sure most of you will be using some sort of consumable ball, the simple fact is, that if one person is, he or she has an advantage over everyone else and the only way for others to compete is by doing the same. It is not an ideal situation at the moment, especially when it comes to doing the settings. I spend a fair amount of time making courses play a certain way each round, I consult with the designers and play test a lot, consumable balls take away a lot of what schedulers do, I could trick up settings to counter that but to me that takes away some of the fun of these courses that designers spend a lot of time working on, and brings courses into unfair territory for people that do decide to play with some sort of default setting which is something I do not want to see. So if a course or a round plays different for one person, there is really nothing I can do about it at the moment. Again I just ask for patience as I try to learn how to bring the best experience possible for as many people as possible on kinetic. If there is one thing I have learn in my 6 or 7 years doing this, no matter what I do, someone will not be happy and by trying to please one, I just upset another but I promise, I will try my best to make kinetic a fun place to be.
Finally, I was at a social event of my peers recently, now I can not name names, but just think, twitter, meta, Microsoft,Apple, basically an event of people with the same financial and social standing as myself, nothing I would expect you do understand though, anything they said to me, you take on to much responsibility and that I should delegate more. So when I flew back to schedulers mansion, I said, bring me the best looking secretary in the kinetic wing whom I then instantly promoted to my assistant, Brenelan, there are some that call him Tim. Now Time has one responsibility as my assistant and that is to take the blame for all my mistakes, so when I screw up, point all your fingers in his direction. It does show that the quality of the looks department in the secretary poll, not all that great, not that it matters that much anyway because I was also advised by my peer group to fire over half the rest of them by email and lock them out of the schedulers mansion. Anyway, welcome Tim to the kinetic.
All that is left to say, is I hope you all have some fun while you are here on kinetic this season, be it just for a few weeks, or the entire season. This tour has always been a fun one, lets keep it that way shall we.
