How on earth are we supposed to control distance without the meter for distance control? I can somewhat perform with feel on the pitches and full shots, but putting and chips almost feel impossible for distance control.
Anyone have any tips?

Head to the practice facility and... practice... just like IRL. IMO it's as simple as that.

Change the setting to percentage only, then use practice swing on the course and look at the shot feedback to see what percentage you got. It doesn't take long to get a good feel for where the club should be, and how the timing feels, for certain percentages and certain distances. Eventually you can turn off the percentage and still get good results.

Could just use vibration instead of meter but you’ll still be dependent on an aid, you’d be better off just ripping the band aid off straight away and implement no meter or vibration. You’ll figure it out eventually but it’ll be hard at first

You can't, it's impossible.

Get a feel for full shots and 50% shots. The rest will fill themselves in

This is, well, the fundamentals I suppose if you've been here a while, but it might not be so clear for everyone.
Have a practice swing. This will show you the % you achieve per swing.
With your aim marker, you can set an "intent" if you bring your aim marker back towards you, to say 60%, when you practice swing, if you land on 60%, the feedback number will be white. If it's close, light grey, if you're further away, dark grey.
Putting, the intent is usually not too far out by default just for you to practice swing and try achieve the "white" number. Uphill putts need the intent to be increased and downhill the intent decreased. It's personal how much by. But regardless, I'll still be trying with my practice, to get to a % that is light grey or white.
Chips and partial shots are another layer of difficulty and I suppose personal preference...
For these, I'll set the aim marker to be roughly 75% of the total carry distance, purely because, at this %, my swing doesn't become so slow that it's so far away from my natural tempo, and I can still get good downswing results (moving the aim marker towards you slows your backswing and the game expects a subsequently slow downswing - which for me, is very difficult to manage with consistency).
I then work out what my target % is vs my overall club carry and then have a couple of practice swings to try and land on or around that number - **I take no notice of the white / grey feedback on these shots, as I'm playing to a false intent of 75% to manipulate my swing tempo to be comfortable**
100% intent would be the closest to natural downswing tempo, but I find it difficult to be as accurate on the partial swing % required without dropping it to 75% on those shorter shots.

I never use the meter. I find it distracting. The more you play, the better you get at understanding the distance, roll out, etc.

for putting I generally count 1 second on the back stroke for 10feet of roll roughly - at the mid green setting of 155 - as the greens get faster, it's less. So for a 20ft on 170 green = 1 second, 2 sec on the 155
It's not exact and you have to get your own system, but works for me. Anything over 60FT and I just use a default 4-5 second count and it generally leaves me with a nice short putt, on occasion I'll sink one if I'm lucky..
Good luck..
