I should maybe clarify my view on Augusta National as an institution. My view on them is nothing to do with historical issues of a non-golfing nature. My disdain for them surrounds a club that is so remote, detached, and aloof from the rest of golfing humanity, that it isn’t a real golf club. It’s the preserve of ex-presidents, those with off-the-radar wealth, and while many golf clubs are ‘exclusive’, that place stands alone in that regard. I can, and have, played the courses on the Open Championship rota. I have played Kingsbarns, a couple of Ryder Cup host courses. I have played Gleneagles… there are similar big courses in the USA where you can actually play them as an ordinary golfer - might be expensive, but at least the gates aren’t 100% shut in your face. Over here, maybe Muirfield gives off that awful whiff of ultra-posh exclusivity, but even then, I’ve driven up to it, wandered around a bit after speaking with the professional, who said it was fine to take some photos and have a look. Hell, he even gave me a handful of Muirfield tees and a ball marker, gave me some stories about the place. Cannot see me even getting into Augusta’s grounds without being arrested for trespass. Too posh, too exclusive, too up themselves… by a country mile. IMHO. Hear, hear Muirfield is old and out of touch farts but they don't take themselves too seriously for the most part. The Masters and the club itself positively reaffirms many cliches about golf, and about class. I find it quite ridiculous personally. The course looks great, but there's a lot of great courses. That's taken too seriously too.

I somewhat agree but you can't get within 5 miles of Queenwood in Surrey without setting off the alarm but the vast majority haven't heard of it so nobody cares. The reason Augusta gets a bad rep in this regard is that you're teased with it during April each year.
Golf as a whole needs to change to shake it's "traditional" values but there's a desire to be the other side of the fence at private member's club, which is why we all want in and get upset when we can't.
Open the doors and demand on tee times go up, course conditions suffer and peace and tranquility comes to an end. That's why these places demand six figure membership fees and if that's just serving the elite, so be it.
I want a Ferrari but I won't go to a dealership demanding that I get a test drive because I think it's unfair.
What happens if Augusta goes in to hiding and we have a rotating schedule for the 4th major? Will that make anyone happy?

I don't disagree at all. I suppose it's the ostentatiousness of it that rubs me the wrong way. I don't have a problem with private clubs in a general sense.

Cypress and Pine Valley come to mind

Oh, I realise there are other exclusive posh clubs, but they don’t host a major year after year, after year. It’s a private club, they can do what they want. A muppet like me thinking they (and their ilk) are so far up their own rear ends that they’re inside-out, isn’t going to cause them any sleepless nights. I mean, to me, Augusta National is like prime Belichick and Brady era New England Patriots… I recognise they are good, admit they are good, but no-one can force me to actually like them. 😀

I tried to find the best version of Augusta. This is still the best by far in my opinion. I noticed that the Mayor version of this course is missing. Any possibilities to add a version with the mayor settings, crowd etc?

Think they removed courses with “major” in the name back during the Players week, so that might be what caused it.

I think "sir" nick Faldo said as well on sky's coverage there was a new pin position on 2 one of the days they had flatten an area out, and also on hole 6 they had flattened the area for i think it was the day one pin and the wok area at the top flattened more so there was more area to land as well if it helps for some of the pin positions.
Glad your doing this was looking for a 24 pin version last week to play along with the pro's

Played this today and had a putt on 12 about 50ft from the left side to pin 4 160 green speed. Aimed about 10ft left and finished 7ft right. Watched the 2021 Masters on YouTube and Faldo commented the green can break up to 4ft which sounded about right from what I've seen over the years. Stumbled on this discussion from Golf Club Atlas about pros missing putts on the high side because the middle section of the 12th green is pretty much flat. One comment included a quote from Davis Love which summed it up. "I think Davis Love III described it well. He said the green is so deceptively flat. 1) You have been playing greens with so much slope, it is hard to believe you can have a straight putt and 2) you would think it breaks towards Rae's Creek, and it just doesn't". Also, I hit a shot to the back edge on 7, which finished in the front right bunker. Don't think that's right either. www.golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php?topic=64354.0
