What are those that cant get the tempo working doing?
I can hit he ball with a driver from the tee and get slow/fast and it doesn't make a great deal of difference to the ball as my back/forward swing path is pretty good. When i have to hit a ball from anywhere else it becomes a lottery, my swing path is still good, but the tempo is random, i can hit 10 shots with the driver from the tee and get a dispersion that is pretty good (at least ball would still be in play). same 10 shots from fair way with an iron and not 1 shot is perfect and probably only 3 are in play, swings are listed as fast and slow and v.fast and v.slow, even though to me the swing is the same on all shots. I cannot pitch the ball due to this and it ruins the fun aspect of the game and makes it actually quite controller throwing frustrating. The idea in golf is to replicate the same swing over and over again, and if this cannot be achieved and you have no idea where your ball will end up its no fun,
so basically how can i make it so i can at least hit greens form 130 yds out...HELP PLEASE
ps this is same on all levels of play just the misses are less unkind on the lower levels

Then try to use your skill points and fittings to help you further increase your timing stats.

Transition is distance control - so higher stats give you a better chance of hitting your exact power percentage - probably most relevant for partials.

Just wanted to chime in and let you know this is EXACTLY my problem, to the letter. You are not alone!
I'm not a great golfer, but tee shots are fine, putts are fine, its these shots you describe that are getting me and exactly in the same way.
Like you, I feel like I'm making the same shot, and it comes out different every time. And I had heard the same thing, in real golf you are supposed to do the exact same swing, just let the change in club govern the distance. Last night I was on the course, and I pushed the button to make it go to practice swing. I swung 10-15 times, what felt to me like exactly the same, and I got 10 different tempos. I am using rhythm, but not tried fittings yet.
I know people say a lot about practice and muscle memory, but how are you supposed to practice and develop muscle memory if you don't have a consistent basis to start with? Thats my biggest obstacle.

same here, steam + dual sense ps5, at the pro level everything ok, but at the master level same problem as yours ... surprisingly at the legend level it seems to go better and the ball goes where I want ... but master level seems a problem, my2cents

Increase your timing stat either through achetype and/or through fittings if your tempo is bad.

What is difference between Tempo and Transition?
Can we change Archetypes between rounds of a society event?

Try starting with a lob wedge, keep taking practice swings until you get a prefect, then move to sand wedge and do the same, keep working through the bag all the way to driver. Keep a count of how many swings you took to get through all the clubs. Try to do this first every time you put the game on (before going on the course). If you keep a track of the number of swings it takes you will be able to see the improvement.

Im in with you. The swings are just inconsequent.

Im in with you. The swings are just inconsequent. I recommend you don’t use the rhythm archetype. If you are not getting close to perfects what’s the point takings massive hit on carry distance only to miss tempo and lose more carry? Try Sculptor or greensman. If you are really struggling with tempo try using some kind of visualisation technique. Think about Fred Couples’ swing or Ernie Els. Try to mimic their tempo in your swing. Or maybe think about the swoosh sound a club makes and try to imagine making that swoosh when swinging. I know it sounds silly but if my tempo goes (like you describe above) I go to the practice range and try to find a swing thought that gives me good tempo. Once I find that swing thought I will continue to use that thought until my tempo goes bad. When I’m playing my rounds I don’t care about the outcome of the shot only that I stick to my swing thought. The most important thing if you want to improve is to practice on the range, that’s the only place to find a consistent tempo.

I'm not sure you are getting what we are saying here, myself and those that have agreed with me...
I fully could do what you are saying, if the game itself was consistent. But its not, at least on my (and apparently some others' end) Network? bandwidth? old cpu? all of the above are awful on my end here and I think it affect the the game itself. I could practice and develop a consistent tempo, if the game was consistent on giving the same result, when I do the exact same motion, with the same speed, with my thumb.
For those that know what I'm talking about, I used rhythm, and finally using fittings, got my driver up to 96 on timing. It has made a world of difference. I can give up the power, as long as each drive is accurate and drops in the fairway.
Now just to try to get the rest of the clubs like that.

Network and bandwidth have no baring on tempo. Neither would your cpu, maybe your gpu if that’s old. Do you have frame rate issues? If you do maybe this would affect your tempo. If your frame rate is stable your inability to hit tempo would be down to you not having a constant swing. The best players have spent hundreds, if not thousands, of hours perfecting their tempo. If you have not, you can’t expect to have a consistent tempo unfortunately.
