Frome Golf Club 2k23

Frome Golf Club (Critchill) was an 18 hole, par 69 golf club with a floodlit driving range. The course measured 5527 Yards from the White tees and 5001 Yards From the red tees. I've also added Gold tees as well.


An ex dairy farm which opened in 1992 originally as a 9 hole course, soon expanded to 18 holes soon after, and had further plans to expand to 27 holes having been owned by the original farming family, the Austins', located in Somerset, England.


Although it was a short golf course in todays terms, it was by no means easy, with the small undulating greens and many Out of bounds lined holes required straight and accurate shots, making it a challenge for all levels of golfer.


Unfortunately after the owners decided to retire, no buyer could be found to take on the running of the Golf course and It closed in September 2015.


For those that played it in TGC 2019 and PGA Tour 2K21, i've added all new pin positions, and updated some trees to more life like equivalents where possible.

Really enjoyed Frome Golf Club. Tight fairways, small greens and requires some shot shaping.

Thank you for playing, Well played. It was a Very enjoyable watch.

Frome Golf Club was my local course until it closed in 2015.

This was my first RCR using lidar data from back then, so the narrow fairways and sloping Greens, and many out of bound lined holes are true to how the course played, and you managed to negotiate some tricky par threes very well

Nice! I'm a member these days but now my kids have taken an interest I get to a few more games. Took my youngest up to Burnley a few weeks ago. We seem to look like world beaters one week and panel beaters the next. I'll give Frome a go when I get the chance, pics look great! I bet very few people are pronouncing it correctly!

You did not need any help from me,i think the best advice on any project is take your time and design what you want to design and if others enjoy it's just a bonus. I See too much these days you should try to design like this designer or you should design this style in the end what one person enjoys good chance 99% of the others might not like it.It really is what makes the brand special even through 2k/hb are slowly destroying that from what the aim was when TGC first started, look forward to giving this a go in the year 2023.

sandgroper & Giraffe72 some people who live in my town get very pedantic on the pronunciation, it doesn't bother me, but the correct pronunciation is like it is spelt froome lol :-)

yeltzman , i'm still very apprecative that you take time out of your day to offer me advice way back before i had started this RCR in 2019, i look forward to seeing how you get on this time around.

My best advice is don't alter the green speed any quicker than default, due to some greens being sloped quite severely and how the putts roll out more on this game, after much play testing I've set them to be as quick as they can be before some might become unplayable.

I've just had my best round ever on master settings on my own course -13, I will upload the stream of the last few holes later, it's well worth a watch, especially the 18th tee shot,





I hope many of you can get to play this course and get it handicap rated again, this course in 2k21 had almost 500 plays, i hope you all enjoy it, and look forward to hearing about your scores and experience playing the course.

Snow has descended on Frome Golf Club over the Christmas Period, which now has a Winter Edition published, complete with many Christmas themed items around the course, and even a Special Visitor Near the 18th green for those on the Good list.

I've now published a Tour version of this course, called Frome Golf Club Tour (L)

This includes tweaks to pinset 2 due to some reported issues on certain holes which are now fixed.

Other pinsets have been tweaked as well to avoid shadowing issues around the hole where possible too on default lighting.

This version also includes Grandstands, tv cameras and crowds on the course for that Tournament feel.
