2K23 Porting note - rather than a new thread to respect what was asked, I just added some new screenshots to this thread in a new post below. For 2K23, I upgraded the 16th hole significantly and made several other smaller improvements to adjust to 2K23's greens and overall playability. Since they did add several new Live Oak trees with better spanish moss, I did some re-planting with those as well. Anyway, hope you enjoy - on to the next one!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey everyone - I've had other priorities for several months, but enjoyed seeing your new courses and look forward to even better creations in 2K23.
As I was thinking about a new course and hopefully improving my work a while back, I started tinkering with my second course, Carolina Queen, for fun, but that naturally just led to a complete "reimagination" to do better by the Lowcountry South Carolina, salt marsh, and coast concept.
I originally felt redesigns were a bit discouraged here, but there have been a few recently, so I decided to finish and would like to introduce "Carolina Queen Reimagined".
I've saved and upgraded a few original holes, and the course is generally in a similar routing footprint, but it's basically an entirely new course with better planting, too. And hopefully much better.
It is still a fusion of some Raynor style from Country Club of Charleston and Yeamans Hall, some Kiawah experience, and even some Chechessee Creek/May River character.
Manipulated tees played at medium wind from any direction will provide different experiences.
Hope you give it a play and enjoy! For at least the few weeks left before 2K23, anyway...
oh yeah, just a few "waves" this time...

Really cool coastal vibes here. I loved the beach feel with the washed out paths and marshy retained areas. Went around on Legends swing to get a feel for '23, and it also makes it a more realistic feel, and just like real life, my drives are a little wild. Great planting and loved my round, even though I lost a sleeve or two...

thanks sandgroper - glad you enjoyed it, and I appreciate the video. I've never seen one of one of my courses, so I'll check it out. Sorry you lost a sleeve - there are alternative decisions off most tees for safer shots and to set up approach angles differently, but going for the riskier shots is fun regardless! I don't even try Legend on the Xbox, so it will be interesting to watch - even with a few wild ones... thanks again...

Really glad you redid this cause it's a great course with the variation of beach and marsh and the golf is challenging too so well done.

As mentioned in an edited opening above, here are some shots of the ported 2K23 version with new 16th hole and other smaller improvements. Enjoy, and feel free to share any feedback! Hopefully you find it challenging, but fair. New 16th par 4 13th par 3 with new bailout area (2K23 has the wrong image for their prior dead Oak now) 3rd par 4 with new Live Oaks 7th par 5 8th par 3 with new green backstop at back right

Hey - just to go back to my 'Approval' rating I gave it the other day. Since you asked a few times for some feedback, I wanted to say that I generally think the course had some fun ideas, but I have a few comments here just for note: - I felt like the course was just very sharp & overly sculpted in many places for me. I think the whole place needs more room to breath in general, especially the greens. I'd like to see the surfaces fit a lot more naturally into the land around them, and I felt like with this one there was a clearly large sculpting that needed to be done to fit the land. One of Kiawah Ocean course's biggest strengths in my opinion is how it allows recovery shots by giving you lots of land to use to move the ball around, while keeping a clear 'bad miss' in mind if you are in the wrong spot. This course felt a bit like the entire thing was a bad miss. - I also found the waste bunkers in a few areas looked a bit sloppy sculpting to me as well - I would like to see the textures & lighting toned down a bunch. Definitely on the right track with this one, and it was given tour worthy back in the beginning of 2k21 as that was the standard back then, but I'd say that the standard has improved a ton in our community in the last 2 years and that's why I put it on the outside looking in this time. Would love to see what you do with a more toned down plot. I feel like the ideas you had were good, just need to be a bit more natural. I loved the creek planting & retaining walls, definitely felt the Carolina vibe for sure. Oh, and tone down the mow lines

Thanks mvpmanatee. I appreciate your feedback. I wanted it to be a challenge and give people a chance to think about setting up for the various options into many greens, but certainly will remember the point about space around them. I am a bit color-challenged, so glad to hear about the textures and lighting as well. I think I did around a 28-degree angle, which is a bit brighter than the original. Can't make any promises on the mow lines. Ha - I honestly didn't even notice, but glad to know others do. Thanks for all you do - I hope folks that play it enjoy it.
